Viewers can’t get enough: Netflix’s 100% rated series racks up 142.9 million hours

It turns out there’s a Netflix series with a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score that viewers have only just discovered.

The truth is, the platform offers so much content that choosing the right film or series is often easier said than done. I’m sure you’ve found yourself scrolling through the endless list, unsure how to spend your free time and wondering whether a title is truly worth a try.

This series, however, has quickly become a fan favorite, with many stumbling upon it purely by chance.

Although originally released on CBS before debuting internationally on Netflix in 2018, Kim’s Convenience only caught the attention of many years later, racking up 142.9 million viewing hours between 2023 and 2025.

It features the everyday lives of a Korean-Canadian family running a neighborhood convenience store in downtown Toronto.

The story revolves around Mr. Kim, affectionately called “Appa,” whose stubborn streak is matched only by his sense of humor, and Mrs. Kim, or “Umma,” warm-hearted but just as determined.

Together, they juggle life in a city of many cultures while managing their store and raising their two children: Janet, an independent photography student, and Jung, their estranged son working to mend family ties after a troubled past.

The series stands out by depicting interactions between different minority communities, humorously addressing tensions that are rarely portrayed on television. It provides a heartfelt and entertaining narrative that feels more genuine than many traditional family sitcoms.

Actually, the name of this sitcom popped up too many times when a Reddit user asked netizens about a series they “stumbled upon with zero expectations but ended up loving.”

Speaking of Kim’s Convenience, a Redditor posted, “Such a great show!” while another added: “Fabulous!”

A third chimed in, “Watched the first season in a day and it really made me happy. A screwball comedy, old school vibe and I am loving it.”

Another comment read: “Love it. Just stumbled by it on Netflix. So well done, so well written, beautiful characters. One of the best comedies I have ever seen.”

Sadly, despite the ratings, the show wrapped up after the fifth season.

If you want to check it out and see what all the buzz is about, all seasons are now streaming on Netflix in the US and UK.
