Hoda Kotb is a much-loved TV personality, so her two-week absence from the Today show caused concerns at her many fans.
As people started speculating about the reasons behind this sudden absence, her colleagues decided to share the truth. “We know a lot of you have been wondering how she [Hoda] is doing. We can tell you that Hoda is OK. She has got a family health matter that she has been dealing with, so we look forward to seeing Hoda and Savannah back at the desk real, real soon,” Craig Melvin said Wednesday morning.
“We love you both,” Al Roker, who has been dealing with health issues recently, added.
Both @SavannahGuthrie and @HodaKotb are off today, with Savannah recovering from a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. As for Hoda, she is okay and handling a family health matter. We’re sending our love to them both and can’t wait to see them in the studio soon 🧡 pic.twitter.com/EcfVV1zsac

Despite Kotb’s absence on the show, she has been very present on social media. Recently, she has been posting inspirational and encouraging messages on her Instagram account.
“Choose hope,” a message on Monday read. “Sometimes miracles are just good people with kind hearts,” she shared on Sunday. “Here’s to strong women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them,” Kotb’s post on February 24 read. “I see you… you strong women ❤️,” the news anchor added.

Speculation about the reasons for Kotb’s leave have persisted since her last on-air appearance alongside Jenna Bush Hager for their Today With Hoda & Jenna show.
After Melvin’s update Wednesday, fans have been sending and sharing messages of support online. “So glad she’s okay and hope her family member gets well soon,” one Twitter user wrote. “Sending hugs and healing prayers to both Hoda and Savannah,” another added. A third called Kotb and Guthrie “two inspiring leaders” and “awesome people.”
Whatever Kotb is dealing with, we hope things would turn out for the best.
