New details emerge in shocking death of Anne Burrell

Celebrity chef and Food Network star Anne Burrell was found “unconscious and unresponsive” in her Brooklyn home on the morning of Tuesday, June 17. According to the New York City Police Department she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family issued a statement confirming her passing. “Anne was a beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend, her smile lit up every room she entered,” the statement read.

“Anne’s light radiated far beyond those she knew, touching millions across the world,” the family added. “Though she is no longer with us, her warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.”

Law enforcement officials have stated that they are currently looking into the death of famous chef Anne Burrell as a potential overdose.

They continue to emphasize that no foul play is suspected.

Sources close to the chef claim drugs were discovered close to her body after she purportedly suffered a heart arrest.

People reports that the celebrity chef spent her Monday evening performing an improv show at The Second City New York. “Everyone said she was so great last night and so happy,” a source told the outlet. Another person confirmed Burrell’s upbeat mood and added that she “was in great spirits” during and after the show. “Typical fun, outgoing Anne, having a blast,” the insider shared with the outlet.

Her sudden passing the day after came as a huge shock to everyone who had attended her show the day prior and witnessed she seemed perfectly fine.

Five days before her passing, Burrell shared a post on Instagram, “I ran into @greenladyofbrooklyn in my neighborhood today!! I’m not going to lie- I have been keeping an eye out for her. I may or may not have followed her down the street for a minute. She is just lovely!!! #ilovewhatido #luckygirl 💚💚💚.”

Being part of the culinary industry for years, she helped hundreds of chefs in the making become better cooks and discover their culinary voice.

In an April interview with TastingTable, she spoke of the connection between cooks and food. “I truly in my heart feel that your food knows how you’re feeling when you cook it and it reacts accordingly,” she said.

Anne Burrell was a firm believer in mise en place.

She encouraged cooks to prep ingredients ahead and clean as you go in order to keep the kitchen running smoothly.

She made a name for herself hosting Secrets of a Restaurant ChefAll-Star Best Thing I Ever AteChef Wanted with Anne Burrell, and making memorable appearances on Iron Chef America.

Anne Burrell’s dedication went far from the kitchen. She served as an advisory board member for the Garden of Dreams Foundation, acted as a celebrity ambassador for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and actively supported City Harvest’s Food Council.

Burrell often said, “I feel so lucky to be able to share my true passion in life with others.”

She is survived by her husband Stuart Claxton, and his son, Javier, as well as her mother, Marlene, her sister, Jane, and her brother Ben.

5 things doctors say you should never give your children to help prevent cancer

Cancer is a devastating disease that not only impacts the life of the person receiving the diagnosis, but also the lives of their loved ones. Battling cancer can be a long and painful journey, and sadly, not everyone who is affected by this disease ends up a winner.

The sad reality is that cancer also affects children of all ages, from newborns and toddlers to preschoolers and teenagers.

Luke Morin and Garrett Matthias were both 5 years old when they lost their young lives to cancer.

Luke only lived 17 days after he was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG)—one of the rarest and most aggressive childhood brain cancers with a zero percent survival rate. His family says that their son “was stollen from them,” and they are doing everything in their power to raise awareness and help raise money in hopes of finding a cure for DIPG.

Garrett battled a rare childhood cancer for ten long months before he passed away. He was aware of the disease and even wrote his own obituary, sharing his wish to be buried with a party, something his parents honored no matter how heartbroken they were. Instead of a sad funeral, something their son didn’t like, they hosted a celebration of life completed with a bounce house, snow cones and an Asgardians burial, like Thor’s mom from the movie.

Both Luke and Garrett were raised in loving families, adored by everyone who knew them. Their parents did all in their power to keep them happy and healthy, but despite providing only for the best for them, they both got cancer.

The truth is that their parents did nothing wrong. Simply, cancer is cruel, and it’s sometimes genetic, and while we can’t control whether we will be diagnosed or not, doctors say there are certain things we can do in order to minimize the risks, especially when it comes to our children.

There are five things doctors say parents should avoid giving their children.

1. Ultra-Processed Meats (Hot Dogs, Bacon, Sausages)

The World Health Organization has classified processed meats including ham, bacon, salami and frankfurts as a Group 1 carcinogen (known to cause cancer) which means that there’s strong evidence that processed meats cause cancer, the Cancer Council reports.

These products contain nitrates and nitrites, preservatives known to form carcinogenic compounds in the body, especially in the colon. Since children’s digestive system is still developing, they are more vulnerable.

Consider replacing them with fresh lean meats, grilled poultry, or plant-based alternatives.

2. Sugary Drinks (Sodas, Energy Drinks, Even Some Juices)

Soft drinks, energy drinks, and even juices are full of sugars and their consumption can easily lead to obesity and diabetes.

The same goes for the diet sodas, which are expected to be a healthier option but are actually disrupting our metabolism and increasing the hunger. Dr. London, who has almost 400,000 followers on his TikTok account, refers to soft drinks as to “liquid death.” Except for high amounts of sugar, these drinks contain artificial dyes and preservatives linked to cancer in animal studies.

A better options would be water with fresh fruit slices or smoothies made of whole fruits.

3. Plastic Containers and Bottles with BP

When offering drinks in plastic containers and bottles, there is a chance of Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical often found in these products, to enter the food or drink we consume. Acting as an endocrine disruptor, BPA can mimic the hormone estrogen. This can increase the risk of cancers such as breast and prostate cancer.

Even when a plastic product is marked “BPA-free,” it contains BPS (Bisphenol S), which is as dangerous.

Use glass, stainless steel, or food-safe silicone containers instead and never microwave plastic.

4. Heavily Fried or Charred Foods

Heavily fried or charred foods can produce harmful chemicals like acrylamide and HCAs, which are linked to cancer risk.

Healthier cooking methods include steaming or baking.

5. Talc-Based Baby Powder or Products with Formaldehyde

Many baby powders that use talc have been linked to cancer risks due to possible asbestos contamination. Other baby care products such as wet wipes and shampoos also contain formaldehyde-releasing chemicals, which are considered cancerous.

When choosing what’s best for your child, opt for talc-free and formaldehyde-free products from brands that use natural ingredients.

These small but meaningful choices may reduce the risks of your child being affected with cancer later in life. While growing up, children are more sensitive to toxins and chemicals than adults, so why not do what’s best for them and their health.

BREAKING: 11 injured in mass stabbing at Michigan Walmart

Eleven people were injured during a stabbing spree at a Walmart in Traverse City, Michigan, Saturday afternoon. Had it not been for the quick reaction of bystanders and FBI personnel who were able to subdue the suspect, the number of people injured would have been higher, authorities reported.

The motive behind the attack remains unknown, according to Grand Traverse County Sheriff Michael Shea.

Following the incident, which left six of the injured people in a serious condition, the attacker, identified as 42-year-old Bradford Gille of Afton, Michigan, has been arrested. He is expected to be charged with one count of terrorism and 11 counts of assault with intent to murder.

According to Shea, the suspect, who is being detained in country jail, had “prior assaultive incidents as well as controlled substance violations.”

“It appears that these were all random acts,” Shea added. “The victims were not predetermined.

“I cannot commend everyone that was involved enough. When you stop and look from the time of call to the time of actual custody, the individual was detained within one minute,” Shea said at the press conference. “That is remarkable. When you look at it in that mitigated Lord knows how many additional victims.”

Gille committed the attack using a folding knife near a checkout counter at about 4:45 p.m.

“Me and my sister work there. The whole store started screaming and running. There was a guy with a knife—he stabbed six people. I saw someone stabbed in the eye,” Walmart employee Tasha Nash, the Independent reported.

Another witness, Tiffany DeFell, who lives about 25 miles from Traverse City, was at the parking lot when the attack took place. “It was really scary. Me and my sister were just freaking out,” she told The Associated Press. “This is something you see out of the movies. It’s not what you expect to see where you’re living.”

Steven Carter, who was also at the parking lot at the time, loading his truck, said, “At first, it was disbelief. I thought maybe it was like a terror attack.

“And then it was fear, disbelief, shock. And that was, it was just amazing, and it all happened fast. Like he was totally subdued on the ground by the time police arrived.”

In a follow up statement, Walmart said they will be working close with law enforcement to help the investigation. “Violence like this is unacceptable. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and we’re thankful for the swift action of first responders,” the retailer’s spokesperson Joe Pennington said.

Mel Gibson’s son Milo Gibson is a spitting image of his father

Finding yourself in the right place, at the right time is what some believe to be luck, but I call it destiny. When actor Mel Gibson was given the script of Braveheart and was offered the legendary role of rebel William Wallace who fought against King Edward I and his oppression, he could sense that script will change his life forever.

“It is just a funny corner of history that I’d never heard of before. And the script was a very haunting piece of work,” the actor said.

“I put it down and thought, it’s a pretty good script’. And then I couldn’t stop thinking about it, it obviously got inside my head. It was given to me on an acting basis, but I just felt I had to tell this story, I repeated scenes and sequences inside of my head. So that’s a pretty good indication that you probably should direct it.”

Shutterstock

The story behind excelling the Scottish dialect is definitely worth sharing.

Well, Gibson learned from the best, the most famous Scotsman, Sir Sean Connery himself. Of course, Gibson’s mother, who is of Irish origin, played part as well.

“We were at Andy Vajna’s place and he’s Hungarian, so he made Goulash. Now, imagine Sean Connery saying that word,” Gibson said on The Graham Norton Show. “To hear Sean actually utter a word like ‘goulash’ is a lesson in itself. You just pick up the accent from the people you’re talking to and hearing and he helped me perfect my Scottish accent.”

Shutterstock

This role is what cemented his position as a true Hollywood legend, although the rest of the movies he starred in and the roles he played throughout his career were more or less as significant as that of William Wallace.

Gibson has nine children, and one of them, his son Milo Gibson, is pursuing a career in the film industry just like his father. In fact, Milo didn’t really plan on becoming an actor and his dad never pushed him into the business. Speaking of his parents, Milo said how they always believed the kids should be let to choose their own profession.

All of Gibson’s children were provided with the most natural upbringing there is. They were never really part of that Hollywood glam.

“It wasn’t a showbiz childhood,” he says. “Our parents kept us out of that type of world,” Milo Gibson told The Australian. “Because it changes people, I think.”

“We didn’t grow up in the Hollywood lifestyle clique. I basically did everything other than going into the career of acting; I wanted to do more of a blue-collar job that involved real people.”

And so it was. Milo worked as a private massage therapist for a couple of years and became an electrician later on. But, as it turned out, the love for acting was always there, and before long, Milo tried himself in the film.

“My dad was always a big advocate of doing what you like to do, and keep doing new things and trying new things, but do what you love,” Milo Gibson told The Hollywood Reporter.

“And I did that. I had a lot of different jobs but they weren’t things that I wanted to do for the rest of my life. And I have a really big passion for acting and I really love doing it.”

Youtube/Today

Milo had his first significant role in his dad’s movie, Hacksaw Ridge, in 2016, where he starred alongside Andrew Garfield. Working with his dad was an incredible experience, according to the young actor. “It was nice to see him behind the camera. I learned that you have to be comfortable taking risks and then stick with them; one of the keys in acting is to be vulnerable.”

In 2017, Milo starred in The Tribes of Paolos Verde, and a year later, he was part of All the Devil’s Men and Breaking & Exiting.

In the 2021 action thriller Dangerous, he starred alongside Scott Eastwood, a role that further cemented his status as a raising action star.

Milo is a good looking young man who inherited his dad’s charm and talent, so it’s safe to say that we will be seeing more of him in the years to come. Speaking of the uncanny resemblance with the Mad Max star, Milo told The Australian, “Sometimes people go, ‘Hey, you look like Mel Gibson!’ And I go, ‘F**k, I wish!’”

Earth will be cast into darkness for six minutes during a rare event not seen in a century

August 2, 2027, will witness one of the rarest celestial phenomena, occurring only once in a hundred years. The moon will completely block the sun, resulting in the land being cast with shadows when there ought to be sunlight. This phenomenon is known as a total solar eclipse.

The darkest part of this shadow is known as “totality.” According to Space, the totality of this solar eclipse is going to be six minutes and 23 seconds. This will make it the longest since the one that occurred in 1991.

This total solar eclipse is known as the “Great North African Eclipse.” This means it would be best seen at those parts of the world, more precisely from Luxor, Egypt, where the totality will be visible for the longest period of time.

While Luxor is going to be the best place to see it in the globe, if you are not able to witness it from there, it may still be seen from a number of locations in North Africa and some regions of Southern Europe, including Gibraltar.

In case of crystal-clear skies, tens of millions of people living within the eclipse’s line of totality will be able to enjoy it in its full glory.

If in Europe, some great options for viewing the eclipse would be Southern Spain, especially Tarifa and Cadiz. These places will offer totality durations of up to 4 minutes and 39 seconds. Gibraltar will also offer an interesting spot to view the eclipse as it first reaches land. However, the event will be shorter there.

For those of you wondering why this total solar eclipse will be longer than what people have witnessed throughout the centuries is a rare alignment between Earth, the Moon and the Sun.

According to experts, another such total eclipse — after the one in 2027 — will happen in 2114.

Father of 9-year-old Melina Frattolin faces charges as new details surface in her death

Melina Frattolin, 9, was found dead in Upstate New York on July 20 after her father, Luciano Frattolin, 45, reported she had been abducted by two men in a white van.

Following his report, authorities issued AMBER alert, but soon after, they realized that the father fabricated the story.

“Mr. Frattolin reported that he had stopped in a parking lot near Exit 22 on I-87 in Lake George to urinate,” New York State Police Capt. Robert McConnell told reporters on Monday at a briefing. “He initially said he walked away from his vehicle, and when he returned, his child was gone. He reported a suspicious white vehicle near the scene, in addition to two men in the vehicle. This theory was thoroughly investigated and refuted.”

Melina’s body was located in the shallow portion of a pond in upstate New York near the town of Ticonderoga on Sunday, hours after her father reported she had allegedly been abducted, The Mail reported.

Luciano was since arrested for the killing of his own daughter and taken to Ticonderoga Town Court on Monday, where he pleaded not guilty to murdering Melina.

Authorities believe he did the horrific crime while traveling back home to Montreal, Canada, from New York where they were on vacation. He is now facing charges of second-degree murder and concealment of a corpse.

Luciano and Melina’s mother had been estranged since 2019 and she had a full custody of their daughter.

Essex County Sheriff’s Office

He is the founder of an organic coffee brand called Gambella.

“Luciano Frattolin is an experienced entrepreneur with a proven track record of building diverse, high-performance businesses,” according to the company’s website.

“With a background in the humanities and social sciences, his formal education, together with his pragmatic understanding about the complexities of life, motivates him to maintain an understanding of the world grounded in a distinct cross-cultural ethos.

“The son of an Ethiopian mother and an Italian father, Luciano was born in the small, remote village of Gambella.

“With a childhood spent running between rows of crimson coffee buds on the Ethiopian family plantation, and the neoclassical architecture of his father’s Milano, his vision of the world and his pursuits within, reflect these hyphenated cultures.”

Melina Galanis Frattolin/ New York State Police

Luciano told the court he couldn’t afford a lawyer despite his social media showing him leading a luxurious lifestyle, traveling abroad, and driving expensive cars.

According to The New York Post, the motives behind the alleged killing of 9-year-old Melina haven’t been determined yet, but according to Montreal news agencies, Luciano struggled to pay child support and owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to creditors.

On his company’s website, he referred to his daughter as to “the light of his life” and his “inspiration.”

Kat Timpf takes break from Gutfeld! for more surgery while pushing back against internet trolls

Kat Timpf announced she was taking a break from Gutfeld! as she’s about to undergo another surgery related to her breast cancer treatment.

The Fox News personality announced earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The news came during a time which was supposed to be the happiest of her life — her pregnancy.

“I’m lucky that we found the cancer so early; I’m lucky to be my son’s mom,” she announced on Instagram in February.

“I mean, I know I’m biased, but the little dude absolutely rules — and not just because he might have saved my life.”

Since then, she had underwent a double mastectomy and returned to television in May, joining Greg Gutfeld on the Fox Nation show, What Did I Miss, The Sun reported.

Now, Timpf will be off TV for a couple more weeks due to another surgery.

“The best case scenario of breast cancer can involve quite a road to feeling whole again, so this is the first step in that,” she posted on her social media, and added: “Just so the internet can’t come up with theories about where I am, that’s where I am.”

Timpf also expressed her gratitude to everyone who sent her well-wishes. “Huge thanks to those of you who have taken the time to offer me words of kindness and support. I love you all so much,” she wrote.

While she received words of encouragement by her fellow colleagues and many of her fans for speaking publicly of her cancer, some internet trolls cast doubt on her parenting abilities and diagnosis, forcing Timpf to defend herself. “I swear I know more about my case than people online,” she posted back in March.

Also, some criticized her for attending Coachella, her first public outing since giving birth to her son.

“One fun thing I’ve noticed about being a mom is if you ever post with your baby, or God forbid, having fun without your baby, people are like ‘Oh my God, where’s her baby? She’s a mother. Should a mother be acting like this? Grow up!'” she posted on her social media accounts in April.

“I’ve only been a mom for a couple of months, but I’m starting to think that the only way to be a parent and avoid backlash is to be a dad.”

Mother and teen daughter discovered dead after emergency call went unanswered for four months

Almost four months after 47-year-old Alphonsine Djiako Leuga called an ambulance that never came, she and her 18-year-old daughter Loraine Choulla were found dead at their family home in Radford, Nottingham.

The bodies were only discovered after a neighbor realized the windows of their home had been opened since February and alerted the police of his suspicions that something could be wrong with the mother and daughter.

Leuga made the 999 call on February 2, 2024, and authorities found her and her daughter’s dead bodies on May 21, 2024.

The desperate mother, who had sickle cell anaemia according to details shared at a hearing held by Nottingham Coroner’s Court, said she was cold and couldn’t move. She was asking for help for both her and her daughter who had Down Syndrome and learning disabilities. The daughter was entirely dependent on her mother.

According to the investigation regarding the passing of the mother and daughter, it is believed that Leuga passed away shortly after the emergency call was made, while Choulla died on February 28.

During the call, Leuga was able to provide details of her identity and place of stay, yet the dispatchers marked it an “abandoned call” and never sent help.

Detective Con Jack Cook of the Nottinghamshire Police said, “Loraine had been left in the premises alone and had been alive until her device had lost charge.”

Police at the scene/ Jacob King/PA

During the hearing, Dr. Stuart Hamilton, the pathologist, was asked whether hunger or dehydration could have contributed to the child’s death. He replied, “There is nothing in my findings that say any of that is incorrect.”

According to East Midlands Ambulance Service’s head of patient safety, Susan Jevons, attempts had been made to call Leuga back.

She told the inquest: “The call should have been left for an ambulance to attend once we had got the address, which we had.

“The ambulance didn’t go to the address because the emergency medical adviser, thinking it was an abandoned call, closed the call down.

“So it wasn’t visible to anybody within the emergency operations centre.”

Loraine Choulla and Alphonsine Djiako Leuga

The coroner told Jevons she must weigh the possibility that sending an ambulance might have saved the girl’s life.

Asked whether there had been a “missed opportunity,” Jevons answered, “Yes, there was a missed opportunity for an ambulance to attend Alphonsine when she requested one.”

The home where the mother and daughter lived/ Jacob King/PA

It has been revealed that in late January 2024, days prior to the tragic incident, Leuga was admitted to hospital for a blood transfusion due to low iron levels. She only stayed at the hospital for two days before being granted a “pragmatic” discharge because she needed to return home to her daughter, according to People.

The pathologist’s report stated Leuga’s cause of death as pneumonia of uncertain cause. Her daughter’s cause of death couldn’t be established.
