Boy begs mom not to take him to daycare until she breaks into the facility

0

There isn’t a single thing in this world a parent wouldn’t do for the well-being of their children. That is why moms and dads out there are real-life superheroes.

Marla Evans, a mom of a three-year-old boy named Johnny signed that morning when she heard her son saying, “No, mommy, no!” when the time came for him to go to the daycare.

This wasn’t the first tantrum he threw in recent days. It wasn’t like that before. Johnny enjoyed going to daycare. What’s most, he was looking forward to it, but something changed and Marla didn’t know what it was.

He begged her to stay home. So, not knowing what to do, she took him to the pediatrician to seek advice and was told that most toddlers go through the ‘terrible threes.’ But Marla could sense there was more to it than just a period children Johnny’s age go through.

Whenever she would ask him why he didn’t like daycare, the boy would simply answer, “I don’t,” and that was it.

“But why, sweetie?” Marla asked again one morning. “Are the other kids mean?” but the boy still wouldn’t answer. “Baby, mommy needs to go to work, but I tell you what… I’m going to come and get you from daycare early today, OK?”

Johnny then asked if she would pick him up before lunch. “No lunch?” he said as he looked up at her anxiously. “No lunch, mommy?”

This made Marla suspicious.

That day, she asked her boss if she could leave work early to deal with personal issues. Being a mom herself, the boss gave Marla the permission she asked for.

Once at the daycare, Marla asked if she could enter, but she was told parents weren’t allowed inside and that the children had lunch. At that moment, she walked to the dining room and peered in through the glass. The children were all sat and there were teachers at each table, supervising the little ones.

Marla then spotted Johnny and what she saw broke her heart into a million pieces.

A woman sitting next to her son picked up Johnny’s spoon, scooped up a portion of mashed potatoes, and pressed it against his lips, yelling at him to eat.

“Open your mouth and eat!” she could be heard saying as she forcefully put the food into the boy’s mouth. “You are going to sit here until you clear your plate!” the woman yelled.

Marla had it enough. She stormed inside the daycare’s kitchen and told the woman to get away from her son.

The woman looked at Marla and told her parents weren’t allowed inside to what Marla replied, “Then they should be.”

Marla then said, “Can’t you see Johnny’s had enough? He’s a healthy boy, but he is not a big eater. As an educator, you should know how traumatic force-feeding a child can be.

“Being forced to clean up the plate is an old-fashioned notion. You should be aware of the statistics and the causes of obesity and eating disorders in children.

“And one of them is making food an issue! My little boy is an active child, and if he feels he’s had enough, you need to respect that and not force him to eat.

“As for shoving food into a child’s mouth in that way, it is reprehensible! You should certainly know better. These children are not puppets for you to manipulate at will!

“They are little people with needs and a will of their own. If you don’t respect their boundaries, you teach them they don’t deserve respect. I don’t think that is a message you want to pass on!”

The next morning, Johnny said he would go to the daycare because he knew his mom had his back.

Camilla redesigns precious jewelry piece despite that Lady Di had worn it so close to her heart

0

The tumultuous relationship and marriage between Prince Charles and late Princess Diana had a lot to do with his affection for his “friend” and lover Camilla.

The marriage ultimately ended in divorce and the heir to the British throne married Camilla instead.

What Charles and Camilla felt for one another happened before he even met the late Princess. Rumors are that the two had great plans together and were eager to tie the knot, but at the time, the Palace didn’t see Camilla as a good fit for the future king. Throughout his marriage with Lady Di, Camilla was always there, as though she was trying to remind the Princess she wasn’t planning to leave.

In her biography, Princess Diana recalled how she felt unsettled before saying “I do” because she knew deep down that Charles’ feelings for Camilla were still alive. Before marrying Diana, Charles gave Camilla a present. It was a gold chain bracelet with a blue enamel disc intertwined with the inscriptions “G and F” (Gladys and Fred) which stood for Prince Charles and Camilla’s nicknames.

Diana learned about this and wasn’t at ease. “I was devastated,” she said. “He’d found the virgin, the sacrificial lamb, and in a way, he was obsessed with me. But it was hot and cold, hot and cold.” She was devastated and told her sisters she couldn’t marry Charles. “So I went upstairs, had lunch with my sisters who were there and said: ‘I can’t marry him, I can’t do this, this is absolutely unbelievable,’” Andrew Morton wrote that Diana had said.

Despite her apprehensions, Diana still married Charles two days later at the St. Paul’s Cathedral.

As she walked down the aisle, Diana spotted Camilla among the guests. “Pale grey, veiled pillbox hat, saw it all, her son Tom standing on a chair. To this day, you know – vivid memory,” the late Princess said.

It didn’t take long before Diana became a much loved member of the Royalty. Britons called her the People’s Princess, and she was exactly that. Caring, loving, and calm.

Becoming a Princess meant Diana was entitled to much of the family’s jewelry which she always wore with pride. Among the precious possessions given to her by The Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth was the famous Prince of Wales’ Feathers Brooch. The stunning diamond brooch was first bestowed to Princess Alexandra of Denmark in 1863 in celebration of her wedding to King Edward VII.  It features diamonds with small emeralds surrounding the Prince of Wales Ostrich Feathers, which are in turn made up of additional smaller diamonds. A stunning piece indeed.

Princess Diana could be spotted wearing the famous brooch as a necklace pendant and it was obvious she was keen on that special piece of jewelry.

Years later, after Lady Di died in a horrific car crash and Prince Charles married Camilla, who is now the Duchess of Cornwall, the brooch, along with other valuable pieces, were handed down to her.

Camilla was first spotted wearing the Prince of Wales’ Feathers Brooch a year after tying the knot with Charles during a movie premiere. What caught the attention of many was that she wore it as a brooch, not as a pendant like Lady Di.

Charlotte White, the Head of Design at 77 diamonds, noted that “The notion of Camilla wearing a sparkling emerald and diamond brooch that once rested gracefully as a pendant on Diana’s skin and close to her heart does feel somewhat jarring when you think that many years ago Camilla was Diana’s husband’s lover.

“And yet, this 158-year-old jewel does contain within it an undeniable link to Prince Charles, the man to whom both these women are inextricably linked,” she added, as per Express.

Camilla was spotted wearing the precious gem during other meaningful occasions too, including the Cheltenham Festival in 2012, as well as in 2019, for a reception at Buckingham Palace for Prince Charles’ 50th investiture Anniversary.

Being his wife, Prince Charles was said to have been very adamant that Camilla is entitled to all the jewelry that once belonged to Princess Diana.

“It is understood that the Prince was particularly keen for his new bride to wear the brooch because of its association with successive princes of Wales,” a source told the Daily Mail.

With Camilla’s presence in Prince Charles’ life, many were convinced from the start that his marriage to princess Diana was doomed to failure.

‘Harry Potter’ actor Robbie Coltrane spent his last years ‘constantly in pain’

0

From a small role in BBC’s mini-series The Lost Tribe at the very beginning of his career, to his outstanding performances of Hagrid in Harry Potter, actor Robbie Coltrane achieved great things in the world of film. Sadly, he passed away on October 14, 2022, but his roles will serve as a reminder of the immense talent he had shown over the course of his career of 40 years.

At the time of his passing, Coltrane was 72 years old.

His family issued a statement thanking the staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital for the care they provided for the actor. He passed away at a hospital near his home in Scotland.

As the cause of dead has not yet been revealed, Belinda Wright, his British agent, said he had been “unwell for some time.” Wright described Coltrane as a ‘unique talent,’ and said that his role of the beloved half-giant Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter films “brought joy to children and adults alike all over the world.”

Born Anthony Robert McMillan in the Glaswegian suburb of Rutherglen on March 30, 1950, Coltrane was educated at Glenalmond College but he didn’t enjoy the strict rules and discipline this boarding school offered. Eventually, he decided to leave and attended art school in Glasgow instead, majoring in drawing, painting, and film.

However, he soon realized that art wasn’t his calling and turned to acting instead. At this point, he changed his name to Coltrane as homage to celebrated jazz musician John Coltrane.

Among the rest, Coltrane starred in Nuns on the Run, the ITV crime drama Cracker in which he played criminal psychologist Dr. Edward “Fitz” Fitzgerald, winning three British Academy Television awards, two James Bond films, 1995’s GoldenEye and 1999’s The World Is Not Enough, where he played Valentin Zukovsky, a former K.G.B. agent turned Russian mafia kingpin.

His most significant role, however, is that in the Harry Potter franchise.

“Robbie is just perfect for Hagrid because Hagrid is a very loveable character, quite likeable, quite comic,” JK Rowling, the author of Harry Potter said. “But he had to have – you really do have to sense – a certain toughness underneath, and I think Robbie does that perfectly.”

Coltrane featured in every Harry Potter movie, from Sorcerer’s Stone in 2001 to Death Hallows -Part 2 in 2011.

Speaking of the Harry Potter family and working alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, Coltrane said on HBO’s television special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, “You’ve got to remember, when they first started they were about eight. I think the oldest of them was 11.

“Now they’re big grown-ups with their own lives. [Rupert] Grint’s had a baby – Grint’s now a father! It’s just astonishing, the change. Watching them growing up was kind of like watching your own grow up, you know. Because you were protecting them.”

He then added, “I was always astonished at how fearless they were. I remember walking into The Great Hall, and I’ve been doing this for 30 years, and I thought, ‘Dear Lord! Woah, better get this one right.’ I do have enormous happy memories of this actually.”

During the last years of his life, Coltrane was in constant pain. In an interview with Express, the late actor said he was “fighting pain 24 hours a day.”

He was diagnosed with osteoarthritis, an autoimmune disease which leads to limited mobility, swelling, and a change in the shape of bones as it progresses. As a result, Coltrane ended in a wheelchair.

His fellow co-workers paid tribute to Coltrane.

“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set. I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on Prisoner of Azkaban when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up,” Daniel Radcliffe said in a statement.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Youtube/Themovietimes

J.K. Rowling wrote, “He was an incredible talent, a complete one off, and I was beyond fortunate to know him, work with him and laugh my head off with him. I send my love and deepest condolences to his family, above all his children.”

Rest in peace, Robbie Coltrane.

Vet frees chained horse not knowing he’s about to get the ‘thank you’ of a life time

0

We all dream of a better world, but is there really a chance for things to change for the better without us finally starting to treat animals the way they deserve? I strongly believe that achieving any form of excellency of living depends on what we do for those who can’t speak for themselves.

However, stories of people who go above and beyond for the well-being of all the creatures we share this planet with give me hope that humanity is still alive.

Wild horses are meant to be exactly what their name stands for, wild and free. However, there are often cases where these animals are chained so they cannot escape.

YouTube/ Four Paws

Ovidiu Rosu, a member of the organization Four Paws, which helps animals in need, stumbled upon a chained horse in Romania and he knew he needed to act fast and release the beautiful animal. This man, who happened to be a vet, took off the chains and received the most beautiful thank you ever.

The horse was visibly nervous when Rosu approached it because it didn’t know what to expect. Before he got to the chains, Rosu calmed the animal down and then managed to free it. There were marks on the horse’s legs which spoke of the pain it suffered.

Upon releasing the wild horse, it touched Rosu’s nose as a way of showing gratitude for his good deed. The emotional moment was caught on camera and we are so glad we could witness something as extraordinary as this.

Sadly, chaining wild horses is a common practice in Romania as people believe it would prevent them from roaming freely in the protected Letea Forest.

When these horses were left behind by the Tatars some 300 years ago, their number grew bigger and bigger with each passing year.

“These horses were first brought to Romania around 300 to 400 years ago by the Tatars. The Tatars left many horses behind, and they started roaming freely through the area. Many horses were also set free in 1989, after the agricultural cooperatives in the area broke apart. This led to a huge population boom—by 2010, there were as many as 1,500 horses living in the Danube Delta.”

YouTube/ Four Paws

In order for this cruel practice of chaining horses to stop, the members of the Four Paws organization offered to carry out a program to give contraceptives to mares to help control the numbers. This helped lower the number of horses, but locals still insist on chaining them, a practice animal advocates tend to put a stop to.

Among the rest, Four Paws also offers vaccinations for the wild horses.

Mom rushes her kid to the hospital after he arrives home with a red mark on his face

0

Young children can get into trouble easily, especially when they have siblings whom they tend to fight and disagree with.

An Idaho boy named Coop went home crying one day claiming his brother hit him in the nose. His parents, Arden and Ashlee Hawley, noticed he had a red mark on the nose and his cheeks and it certainly didn’t look like he had been hit. The mark was sort of strange and that raised a red flag. In order to be sure it wasn’t anything serious, they took him to the doctor’s who prescribed him steroids.

However, as the red mark spread, they became even more suspicious and took him to the ER. There, medics ran tests and they determined Coop contracted a streptococcal bacteria in his sinuses.

It is a common belief that this bacteria is only found in person’s throat, but that’s not true as it affects other parts as well.

There are many different types of this bacteria, each of which with different manifestation.

Luckily for Coop, his parents reacted just in time. He has been given proper medication and is currently recovering. It the infection wasn’t diagnosed on time, it could have easily affect his eyes and brain.

Another mom posted a similar story about her son who contracted the flu. Since the country is experiencing severe flu outbreak, parents need to be more cautious about their children and notice the symptoms on time.

This mom, Candace Reeves McMahan, who posted on the Facebook page Simply Real Moms, wrote of her son, “He was looking awful, and I noticed odd red markings on his face. By that evening, my child had a blotchy rash all over him. I secretly hoped that he was only experiencing a fever rash so that I could put him to bed.”

Facebook/ Candace Reeves McMahan

The following day, his body temperature got really high and there were red marks all over his face. He experienced rash and his mom took him to hospital. They were told he had contracted strep infection in his throat.

According to the doctor, facial marks and rash are frequent symptoms of this bacteria. The mother wrote, “I had no idea, and it seems that no one I’ve informed in the previous two days does either. I felt obligated to alert other parents of these apparent signs that their child has strep throat.”

Sadly, the infection spread to his eyes and he needed to undergo a surgery but he recovered.

“He nearly seems normal, and he looks like his old self again! I can’t thank everyone enough,” Candace wrote. “I believe in the power of prayer.”

She now wants to warn other parents of the symptoms of strep in order for something her son experienced to be avoided.

“Please share the pictures of Luke’s eyes with me, please. This might have been avoided, she said, if the diagnosis had been made earlier.”

Journalist Katie Couric reveals her breast cancer diagnosis – “I felt sick and the room started to spin”

0

Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women in the United States. As of 2021, it accounts for 12% of all new annual cancer cases worldwide.

Just recently, journalist Katie Couric opened up about her diagnosis in an attempt to help raise awareness among women to get checked regularly.

Couric took to Instagram to share with her fans details of her health. Along with a photo of herself in a hospital gown and with a mask on her face, she wrote, “Every two minutes, a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States. On June 21st, I became one of them

“As we approach #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, I wanted to share my personal story with you all and encourage you to get screened and understand that you may fall into a category of women who needs more than a mammogram.”

Shutterstock

The 65-year-old journalist explained that she missed her 2020 mammogram and her doctor told her to have her check-up the subsequent year. She’s now recording her experience “in a PG way.”

The results which came with the check-up concerned her doctor who ordered a biopsy. Soon after, she was delivered the news that she had breast cancer.

“I felt sick and the room started to spin. I was in the middle of an open office, so I walked to a corner and spoke quietly, my mouth unable to keep up with the questions swirling in my head,” she recalled.

Shutterstock

Sadly, her husband Jay Monahan passed away of colon cancer back in 1998 and most of her family members, including her parents, her sister, and her mother-in-law, have been diagnosed with cancer at some point in their life.

She then accepted and faced the reality. “My mood quickly shifted from disbelief to resignation,” she recalled. “Given my family’s history of cancer, why would I be spared? My reaction went from, ‘Why me?’ to ‘Why not me?’”

The good thing was that she received the diagnosis at an early stage and had underwent a procedure known as “breast conservation” or “lumpectomy.”

Shutterstock

Once her olive-sized tumor was removed, she was prescribed medications she needs to take for five years. Luckily, as it was discovered early, she won’t be undergoing chemo treatments.

Couric’s story is yet another proof of the importance of regular check-ups and screenings and when someone as influential as her is sharing their life experience it helps raise awareness. One thing is certain. People need to be more proactive about their health.

“I can’t tell you how many times during this experience I thanked God that it was 2022. And how many times I silently thanked all the dedicated scientists who have been working their a**es off to develop better ways to analyze and treat breast cancer,” she wrote on her website. “But to reap the benefits of modern medicine, we need to stay on top of our screenings, advocate for ourselves, and make sure everyone has access to the diagnostic tools that could very well save their life,” she concluded.

We wish Katie Couric good health.

Girl calls her ‘awkward’ dad to the dance floor, and then he steals the show

0

There’s something about every father-daughter relationship that reminds us that no other bond is purer or stronger. Little girls are their fathers’ princesses and the fathers are the everyday heroes who are there no matter how rough things get.

Mike Hanley and his wife Beth were blessed with three stunning daughters, and that’s three times the happiness of experiencing the love only girls can give to their daddies. On the day of Jessica Hanley’s bat mitzvah, she and her dad prepared an incredible dancing performance for the guests. No one really expected to see such a show. The dancing started with the perfect song, “My Girl” by The Temptations. They couldn’t choose a more fitting tune for that first dance, don’t you think so?

Once the music started, the real surprise unfolded before the guests’ eyes. As they started singing along, the song changed all of a sudden, and Mike pretending to be surprised by that switch is priceless. Instead of taking it slowly, this father-daughter duo hit the floor once Whitney Houston’s “Do You Wanna Dance?” filled the air.

Jessica is one hell of a dancer herself. She choreographed a well-prepared dancing routine using a mashup of some of the greatest hits such as Lou Bega’s “Mambo No. 5,” LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem,” Jackson Five’s “I Want You Back,” and Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face.” The dance ended with the first song, “My Girl.” Needless to say, everyone enjoyed watching the girl’s amazing performance.

Mike did the same thing for his other daughter Isabelle, two years later, but this time they chose different music and bragged with their rapping skills.

Mike is a stand-up comedian who performed in various comedy clubs, malls, department stores, and even at a hospital psychiatric ward. However, after his first daughter was born, he took a break from his career and devoted all his time to raising his daughters. But back in 2011, he got back to comedy and is entertaining people from all over the country. He’s got all the support from his ladies who are always his number one priority.

This dancing choreography is definitely something you don’t want to miss.

Alan Alda stays positive, despite his diagnosis

0

Best known for the role of Captain Benjamin “Hawkeye” Pierce in the war comedy-drama television series M*A*S*H, actor Alan Alda, 86, is a six-time Emmy award winner whose career as an actor, screenwriter, and director spans almost seven decades.

Back in 2018, Alda opened up about his health and revealed that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. This news was devastating to say the least, but Alda never let the diagnosis affect the person he has always been.

According to Alda, in order to keep the symptoms at bay, he relies on exercises and a lot of movement.

Among the rest, he revealed he’s been taking boxing lessons three times a day.

In an 2020 interview with Good Morning America, Alda spoke of the symptoms he had experienced before he urged himself to visit a doctor.

“In 2015, I read an article in the New York Times by Jane Brody, in which a couple of doctors said some of their Parkinson’s patients had one particular early symptom, and it’s an unusual one: People act out their dreams while they’re asleep. I realised I had done just that,” he said.

“I had dreamed somebody was attacking me, and in the dream I threw a sack of potatoes at him. In reality, I threw a pillow at my wife.”

“So, believing there was a good chance I had Parkinson’s, I went to a neurologist and asked for a brain scan.

“He examined me and said, ‘I don’t think you need a scan. You don’t have any symptoms.’ I said, ‘Well, I’d really like the scan anyway.’ And he called me back and said, ‘Boy, you really got it.’”

Alda believes it is very important for people not to get depressed upon hearing the diagnosis. Although they don’t know what the future holds and how fast the disease would progress, they need to find a motivation to keep strong.

“To live a normal life, you must adapt. It has to be solved like a puzzle. I like to solve problems,” this proclaimed actor says.

He always chooses to stay optimistic and does all in his power to raise awareness about Parkinson’s and teach the wide public how much has been done in the fight against this disease throughout the years.
