Dolly Parton shares a heartfelt tribute following the passing of her husband, Carl Dean

Carl Dean, the husband of country music legend Dolly Parton, dies aged 82. The couple had been married for nearly 60 years.

According to a statement issued by Parton, Dean died Monday in Nashville, Tennessee, as per the Associated Press.

The cause of death remains unknown.

The news was also shared on Dolly’s Instagram account. “Carl Dean, husband of Dolly Parton, passed away March 3rd in Nashville at the age of 82. He will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family attending. He was survived by his siblings Sandra and Donnie,” the story said.

“Carl and I spent many wonderful years together. Words can’t do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy,” the heartfelt message continued.

Dolly Parton wrote about Carl Dean in her book and described him as a romantic person.

She even recalled how he hugged her so tight when she went to visit him at the army base in Georgia back in the day that her wig fell off. “He squeezed, hugged and kissed me so hard that he knocked my wig off,” the singer revealed.

They met back in 1964 outside the Wishy Washy Laundromat in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time, Dolly was 18 years of age, and Carl was 21.

“My first thought was, ‘I’m gonna marry that girl,’” Dean said in a statement of the moment he first laid eyes on Dolly, as quoted by Entertainment Tonight.

“My second thought was, ‘Lord she’s good lookin’.’ And that was the day my life began. I wouldn’t trade the last 50 years for nothing on this earth.”

At the time they tied the knot, Dolly was starting her career and her record label believed she should put the decision to marry on hold, but she refused. She and Dean married in an intimate ceremony in Ringgold, Georgia to avoid the local press in Tennessee to write about them.

It was the start of a love story that never ended.

JD Vance delivers a fiery warning to rogue judges

Following the suggestion by Vice-President JD Vance that rogue judges have no jurisdiction over President Donald Trump’s “legitimate power,” a statement Elon Musk, the head of the Department of Government Efficiency agrees with, experts warn that the country may enter a “constitutional crisis” or a “breakdown of the system.”

“If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal,” Vance posted on X. “If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that’s also illegal.

“Judges aren’t allowed to control the executive’s legitimate power.”

The remarks issued by the Vice-President came as a response to a judge’s decision to block members of the DOGE from accessing sensitive US Treasury Department systems, BBC reports.

Ever since taking office, Trump has signed a number of executive orders, a plethora of which right after his inauguration.

However, those orders have faced numerous legal challenges.

Jamal Greene, a professor at Columbia Law School, suggests that Vance’s post signals the government’s refusal to comply with court orders

“I think the tweet, taken on its own terms, is empty because it refers to the ‘legitimate powers’ of the executive. And the whole question in these cases is whether the executive is acting legitimately or not,” Greene told NBC News.

“He has some cover in that sense,” Greene added, referring to Vance. “He hasn’t promised unlawful behavior.” 

In the past, JD Vance argued that the president has the authority to directly oppose judicial decisions aimed at limiting White House power.

“When the courts stop you, stand before the country like [early US president] Andrew Jackson did and say: ‘The chief justice has made his ruling. Now let him enforce it,'” Vance said during a 2021 podcast. He added that a future Trump administration should sack “every single midlevel bureaucrat, every civil servant in the administrative state, replace them with our people,” BBC reported.

A number of senators and other politicians opposed Vance’s statement, reminding him that’s not how the law works.

‘What’s going on with Trump’s legs?’

A recent video of President Donald Trump showing him having a hard time getting out of his golf cart made many question, “What’s wrong with Trump’s legs?”

The video in question was taken at Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, during a golf session. It was shared by Aleman’s Brothers LLC, a grounds-keeping company that appears to service Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, as per the Daily Mail.

“Trump moves his right leg like a piece of wood,” an X user posted. “Any geriatricians around?” asked another.

X

“What’s wrong with Trump’s legs? He’s moving knock kneed and swinging his right leg like it’s dead weight?!” a third commented.

One user wrote, ”What’s up with his right leg + foot? Looks all wobbly + pigeon-toed.”

The video triggered numerous speculations and rumors about the president’s heath, with some suggesting he could be suffering from “weak knees,” and others even pointing out to a “neuromuscular degenerative issue.”

There were also those who said Trump’s legs and his movement feel “weird” because of his age.

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung responded to the speculations, dismissing them as not true. “Deranged and morally bankrupt liberals — including corrupt media — have now resorted to complete falsehoods and fabricated lies because they have no shame.

“Instead, they spend every waking hour of their pathetic lives suffering from a debilitating case of Trump Derangement Syndrome that has rotted their brain,” he said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

This isn’t the first time people have pointed out Trump dragging his right leg.

In March of last year, MAGA critic and editor-in-chief of left-wing MeidasTouch Network Ron Filipkowski posted, “Something is definitely going on with his right leg. He’s been dragging it for months.”

The video in question emerged a week after people spotted bruises on Trump’s hands during his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.

Social media users believed that the bruises were due to IV infusions, thin skin, or the president’s old age. They were obviously covered with skin-colored makeup but still visible.

Trump on the other hand has bragged about his health in the past, claiming he’s been the healthiest president to ever run the country.

Goldie Hawn reveals a heartbreaking health condition at the Oscars

The 97th Annual Academy Awards gathered the most prominent Hollywood figures together for yet another memorable night.

Actress Halle Berry had her “revenge” kiss on Oscar-winner Adrien Brody on the red carpet, which saw the crowd, including Brodie’s girlfriend Georgina, clapping and laughing. The opening ceremony saw Wicked stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande shine in their full glory. Zoe Saldaña gave an emotional speech, and Conan O’Brien had his Oscar hosting debut.

The film Anora won five Oscars and owned the night, but it was the heartbreaking revelation by Goldie Hawn about a health condition that had everyone talking.

The actress was on stage alongside Andrew Garfield presenting the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

However, at one point, she stopped her speech, which she read from the teleprompter, and turned to Garfield with the words, “OK. Sweetheart, can you read that? I can’t read that.”

She then revealed, “I’m completely blind. I mean, I am,” explaining that she suffers from cataracts.

It is a condition that happens when the lens, a small transparent disc inside your eye, develops cloudy patches, according to NHS.

Over time these patches usually become bigger causing blurry, misty vision and eventually blindness.

They are most common at elderly people but can affect anyone.

Garfield showed just how big of a gentleman he is telling Hawn, “OK, I’ve got you,” before revealing the winner.

The response to the revelation about her health condition concerned the fans of Goldie Hawn.

A source close to the actress said she regretted sharing her condition because she didn’t mean that news to become a talking point.

“Goldie is embarrassed that the focus of her Oscar night was her vision issues, it is not something she wanted everyone talking about,” the source said, as per the Daily Mail. “She was just trying to be funny.”

Elon Musk issues 5-word response to Mike Myers’ brutal SNL portrayal of him in a Trump-Zelenskyy sketch

In a parody of the widely debated meeting between Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Mike Myers portrayed the tech-billionaire Elon Musk.

The skit poked fun of Musk on Saturday Night Live, and the Tesla founder made sure Myers knew he didn’t found the comedy fun.

Namely, Myers, dressed as Musk in black jeans, a blazer, and a graphic t-shirt, interrupted the meeting between Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, and Zelensky, played by Mikey Day.

“Donald, what are you doing in my office?” Myers’ Musk asked Trump, “You know I’m the president now, right?” then added: “I’m kidding, I’m kidding… Maybe not.”

Myers imitated Musk’s bouncing from a last years’ Trump’s rally, jumping up and down.

“They’re saying I’m firing people with no cause. But I do have cause, it’s ’cause’ I feel like it,” Myers’ Musk joked.

Mayer’s further mocked Musk’s role as a head of the Department of Government Efficiency, the government lay-offs, and the number of plane crashes.

“We’re not going to get it perfect, you know. But we are firing the non-essential employees like air traffic controllers.

“And sure, some of the planes are going to land upside down. But then the luggage falls right into your lap and you’re ready to go.”

Myers even held a chainsaw, playing on Musk’s time at the Conservative Political Action Conference when Argentina’s President Javier Milei gave him a gold-plated one.

Vance, portrayed by Yang, berated the Ukrainian leader, asking him, “What happened to thank you? You haven’t said thank you to us once in the past 15 seconds.”

He then continued, “You think you’re getting any money from us after your little outburst today?” before adding, “You get nothing. You lose. Good day, sir.”

Trump then said dismissively to Zelensky, “Who shows up to the White House in a T-shirt and jeans like a garbage person?”

While many found the skit fun, except for the MAGA supporters, it turned out Elon Musk wasn’t fond of his portrayal by Mike Myers…at all!

Replying to a comment about it on X, the SpaceX owner wrote, “Humor fails when it lies.”

Netizens were quick to react to Musk’s comment.

“Fails? They pretty much nailed you. Now it’s even funnier when I know it hurt your feelings,” someone commented.

Another said, “Mike Myers was very funny in this skit [in my opinion],” while a third noted, “You were all ‘legalize comedy’ just a few days ago. I guess you’ve changed your mind? Because most people thought Mike Myers was spot on & hilarious.”

My 5-year-old brought an entire restaurant to tears with one simple act

My 5-year-old son enjoyed visiting the Waffle House, but that day was like no other.

As we were seated at the place, waiting for our food to arrive, my boy Josiah spotted a man with worn-out clothes sitting outside.

Curious, he asked me what the man was doing on the street, to what I replied that he could be a homeless person.

Josiah, being just five, was interested to learn what that meant.

“He doesn’t have a home,” I said, adding that he probably doesn’t have anything to eat either.

Josiah was confused, and without hesitation, he got outside and told the man that he could eat with us.

The man seemed confused, and the entire restaurant was looking at Josiah, waiting to see what was going to happen. It was then that I told the man that he could have dinner with us.

He entered and Josiah ordered the biggest burger for him.

But, before the man took a bite, Josiah said, “Wait, we need to pray first.” And there, in the middle of the Waffle house, my 5-year-old son bowed his head and said a blessing.

At that moment, one by one, the rest of the diners started paying for meals and leaving money on the counter. The truck driver sitting opposite us told the waitress, “Make sure he has enough for breakfast tomorrow.” An elderly lady placed $20 on the counter and said, “For anyone else who might need it.”

The waitress was stunned. She said that in the 12 years working at the diner she had never witnessed anything similar.

Then and there, I felt like the proudest mother there was.

The ripple effect Josiah’s act triggered was nothing short of amazing.

Josiah, happy he made a new friend, took a bite out of the man’s hamburger and sked him if he like it. “The best burger I’ve ever had,” the man said, doing his best not to let tears run down his face.

Before we left, Josiah gave the man his favorite sweater. “You can have it,” he said, “In case you get cold on the streets.”

As we headed home, my 5-year-old asked me if he had done a good thing.

“You did a wonderful thing, sweetheart,” I said as I gave him a kiss on the forehead.

Justin Bieber breaks silence and explains truth amid fans’ concerns about his health

Fans of the Canadian-born singer Justin Bieber sparked concerns over his health after photos of him emerged on the social media, showing him looking hollow-eyed and dishevelled.

The musician was photographed at a pop-up event for his wife Hailey Bieber’s Rhode cosmetic line in LA.

Fans were quick to comment on the looks of the singer, who recently became a father.

“He still has some healing to do this is sad,” a person commented. “I can’t understand people who are laughing at this, truly, I just feel bad for both of them, no one deserves this,” another added.

“This is so hard to watch. Someone help him,” a third wrote.

A representative of the singer told TMZ that Bieber is “simply in one of the best places in his life” denying any rumors that he’s using drugs. They added that the singer’s past year has been “very transformative for him as he ended several close friendships and business relationships that no longer served him.”

Further, they said the star is drained by the rumors surrounding his mental health as he is focused on “actively parenting his newborn son” Jack Blues, prioritizing his marriage, parenthood, and creating art.

Justin Bieber had his fans worried before when he unfollowed his wife and his father-in-law on social media back in January.

He then claimed that his marriage wasn’t breaking down, sharing photos of Hailey.

Later, Bieber said someone entered his account and unfollowed Hailey. “S**t is getting suss out here,” he wrote.

Sources close to Bieber told TMZ that his looks is due to long nights of recording at the studio and “caring for his son who was having trouble falling asleep as well.”

In an episode of the docuseries Justin Bieber: Sessions, the star revealed he had started smoking marijuana aged 12 or 13.

He then turned to heavier drugs but eventually decided to quit after he thought he was going to die.

New leading infectious disease: COVID-19 no longer top of the list

COVID-19 has been on top of the list of infectious diseases for a number of years. This is expected as the pandemic, which was global and didn’t spare any country, claimed the lives of a number of people and affected the everyday life of millions.

Recently, however, the World Health Organization stated that tuberculosis (TB) has retaken its position as the leading infectious disease, surpassing COVID-19, as per The Hearty Soul.

WHO reported that in 2023, the number of people diagnoses with TB was approximately 8.2 million. This is the highest since 1995 when the organization started the monitoring process of the infectious disease.

“The fact that TB still kills and sickens so many people is an outrage, when we have the tools to prevent it, detect it and treat it,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “WHO urges all countries to make good on the concrete commitments they have made to expand the use of those tools, and to end TB.”

Tuberculosis is an infection that usually affects the lungs.

However, it also can affect other parts of the body such as the kidneys, the spine, or the brain.

Most people who have TB infection will never develop TB disease.

The treatment of this infectious disease involves the use of antibiotics, and if left untreated, it can be very serious. There is also a vaccine, called the BCG vaccine, recommended for people who are at higher risk of catching TB or getting seriously ill from it. In certain countries, the babies are vaccinated with it right after birth.

TB spreads through the air, when a person who is infected sneezes, coughs, or talks.

This infectious disease primarily affects people from low and middle-income countries, with limited access to healthcare.

56% of those affected are from India, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, and Pakistan.

NHS lists the most common symptoms of TB, which include: persistent cough that lasts more than three weeks, mostly accompanied with mucus and bloody mucus, high temperature and night sweats, loss of appetite, weight loss, and feeling tired or exhausted.
