My MIL ruined our gender reveal, but the regret hit her harder than she ever expected

When my husband first introduced me to my MIL, she seemed like the kindest person there was, but soon after, I learned she was far from the woman she tried to represent her to be – the last straw was when she ruined our gender reveal party.

My mother-in-law, Angela, has always been heavily involved in my and Carl’s lives. When I say heavily, I mean she’s been there ALL the time.

On our wedding day, she claimed there was an emergency my dad needed to help her with, and in the next moment, she grabbed me by my hand and walked with me down the isle, stealing my dad’s moment.

When we bought our home, Angela and her husband somehow bough one in the same neighborhood, claiming they did it “accidentally.”

And on our honey moon, as Carl and I were getting into the hotel, who was there to greet us? Angela, of course. “Hey guys, I had no idea you were coming here,” she said. Needless to say, we spent our honeymoon with her, whether we wanted that or not.

The final straw was during our gender reveal party. Everyone we loved was there, and the excitement of learning the gender of our baby grew bigger with each passing moment. The black balloon filled with confetti was waiting to be burst.

And just as we popped it and learned we were expecting a girl, Angela yelled, “I have some news to share with you. I’m pregnant.”

Listening to her words made me sick. Why would she choose my gender reveal party to reveal her own pregnancy?

I couldn’t stand it any longer.

“Angela, do you think this is the right time to share that?” I asked, obviously mad at her. Carl was as shocked as I was. “Mum! You are pregnant!???” he asked.

She smiled and expected everyone to congratulate her, but both Carl and I were angry and hurt.

“This isn’t the right time,” I told my MIL, “you ruined our gender reveal party. You crossed every boundary there is, and now this?”

Angela burst into tears. She accused us of not being happy for her. She couldn’t understand that her timing was totally wrong.

In the days to come, I didn’t hear from her, and honestly, I was relieved. But that was until she started forcing me to go shopping with her.

She wanted to visit every baby shop there was, and I really couldn’t stand her any longer.

One day while at the shopping center, I told her I would go to the toilet and left for a few minutes. When I returned, I spotted her at one of the shops, holding a fake pregnancy belly. And then it hit me, she could have been lying the whole time.

Could my MIL not be pregnant but pretended to be just to have my gender reveal party ruined?

Honestly, one could expect anything from that woman.

Once home, I told my husband about it, but he refused to believe me. He said his mom could have been trying the fake belly just to see how clothes would fit her once her actual belly grows, but I wasn’t convinced.

When the time for her gender reveal party arrived, I hired a photographer and had a plan to expose her in front of everyone.

As the night proceeded, I suggested she takes some photos with her belly revealed, but as expected, she said she didn’t want to.

“Why not,” I asked her, “your son and I have photos like that, and we all know how much you love stealing the spotlight.”

Angela was shocked at my words. I insisted she uncovers her belly for the photoshoot I paid for, but she kept saying no. At that moment, I grabbed her by her shirt and lifted it.

To my surprise, Angela’s belly was real. But how could that be?

My husband and my father-in-law were mad at me for embarrassing my MIL like that. They demanded I apologize to her, and I did. I made a mistake and doubted her words.

When I entered her room, Angela was crying. I said I was sorry and explained why I thought what I thought. It wasn’t just the fake belly, but also her overstepping the boundaries from day one. I felt like she was suffocating me, and I finally told her how I felt.

Instead of being angry, my MIL gave me a hug and said she didn’t know I felt that way. What’s most, she promised to give me and my husband the space we needed.

From that day, we didn’t see much of Angela as we used to, but we still remained close.

Heart surgeon shares four daily habits to avoid for better health

One of our favorite doctors, heart surgeon Dr. Jeremy London, speaks of four daily habits most of us practice but should instead avoid.

Dr. London has over 550 thousand followers on TikTok where he shares tips for better health.

Using Mouthwash

A lot of people use mouthwash daily without being aware that this can do more harm than good. Dr. London advises against using it, saying, “Stop using mouthwash. This is one thing that I absolutely avoid as a cardiac surgeon.”

This is because mouthwash kills both good and bad bacteria, which leads to imbalance in our guts because the good bacteria present in the gut starts in the mouth.

His claim is especially true for mouthwash that is based on alcohol.

Smoking Tobacco Products

One of the daily habits we should avoid, according to Dr. London, is smoking tobacco products. According to The World Health Organization, tobacco “is a major risk factor for cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, over 20 different types or subtypes of cancer, and many other debilitating health conditions.”

Dr. London says smoking tobacco “is the worst thing you can do to yourself,” adding, “Smoking directly injures the lining of blood vessels, increases the chance of atherosclerosis and blockages, and causes cancer.”

Drinking Alcohol

As expected, drinking alcohol is on the list of daily habits to avoid for better health. “It’s toxic to every cell in your body,” Dr. London says. According to him, even the slightest quantities of alcohol increase the risks of developing cardiovascular disease.

Consuming Processed Foods

It is a well-known fact that balanced diet is the key to a healthy body and mind. Dr. London advises we should “limit or remove processed foods from your diet.”

NHS states that overconsumption of processed food leads to type 2 diabetes, obesity, and bowel cancer.

Doctor reveals the one thing you should avoid doing if you wake up during the night

To wake up during the night happens to most of us, and we can all agree it can be frustrating.

However, when this happens, doctors warn that we should avoid doing one thing that prevents us from falling back asleep.

Dr. Biquan Luo, CEO of LumosTech, spoke of this issue with The New York Times, and shared a tip for those who tend waking up in the middle of the night.

“Checking the time can increase stress and make it harder to sleep. Additionally, if you check the time on your phone, the contents of the phone may be too stimulating, which further prevents you from relaxing and falling asleep,” Dr. Luo said.

Lying awake and tossing and turning for what may feel like forever before we are able to doze off again can be irritating. So, in order to keep ourselves entertained until drifting back to sleep, we tend to scroll through the social media.

Dr. Luo, however, strongly advises against doing that. “If you can’t fall back asleep after 10 or 15 minutes, it’s time to get out of bed. Try going to a quiet and comfortable place at home, like the couch, and engage in a quiet, low-stimulation activity, such as reading a book or doing a calming activity, until you feel sleepy again – then return to bed.”

He adds that the phone’s bright light and endless stimulation can only make the process of getting back to sleep even more difficult.

Shifting our focus on something more calming if we wake up during the night is a tip another expert, Dr. Fiona Barwick, who leads the Sleep & Circadian Health Program at Stanford University School of Medicine, suggests.

“Thinking about the fact that you’re not sleeping can rouse your mind and make you more anxious. A better move is to accept your situation – don’t resist being awake – and find an alternative focus,” she says.

Sleep specialist Luis F. Buenaver says staying in bed while wide awake can do more harm than good.

“Doing this will lead your brain and body to associate your bed with wakefulness instead of with sleep.

“It can be difficult leaving a warm, comfortable bed after waking up in the middle of the night. But think of this step as an investment in better sleep – if not tonight then tomorrow night and in the future.

“Sit in a comfortable chair in another room.”

4-year-old boy passes away after telling mom ‘under my arm hurts’

Sheffield mom Sammy Knowles shared the grief over the sudden passing of their miracle baby, 4-year-old Jaxon Knowles.

Sammy and her husband took their son to what they believed would be a dream vacation, but the moment they returned home, the boy complained of pain under his arm.

He then went to sleep and woke up with a pain in his tummy, according to his devastated mother.

Jaxon then asked his mom to sleep in her bed, something he did when he didn’t feel fine. In order to bring his fever down, she gave him paracetamol, something she had done before for his chest infections.

Sadly, when she woke up around 5 a.m. in the morning to check on him, she spotted the rash on his body. Initially, she thought it could be chickenpox, and it only took minutes for her to realize it was something much more serious.

The rash worsened and Sammy called the ambulance. ”His mouth and tongue started swelling, and he threw up. We called 999, and as we waited for the ambulance, he could barely breathe. We had to turn him on his side,” she shared with YorkshireLive.

When they arrived at the hospital, Jaxon’s condition was already critical. He was crying blood and doctors said they needed to put him in coma and transfer him to a children’s hospital.

Sadly, his young heart didn’t make it despite the doctor’s efforts.

Doctors informed the parents that Jaxon Knowles suffered from meningitis. He passed away in the morning of February 17.

”I can’t believe it,” Sammy said through tears. ”He was fine just hours before. There were no signs, no symptoms of meningitis. It just came out of nowhere.

”He was our miracle baby,” the devastated mother continued. ”We spent seven years trying to have him, going through multiple rounds of IVF. After three miscarriages, he was our last hope.”

The parents of young Jaxon Knowles are now trying to raise awareness about meningitis

”If we can help even one family, that would mean everything,” dad Jordan said.

The symptoms of meningitis are sometimes hard to detect because they are common with other conditions. Some of them include severe headache, neck pain when bending forward, a stiff neck, and sometimes sensitivity to light.

As the condition progresses, symptoms include confusion, lethargy, or seizures.

Jaxon’s family set up a charity page in order to raise funds for the charity organization Meningitis Now.

Speaking to BBC, Jason said, ”We know there was no vaccination that Jax could take, perhaps with more funding and more research things can change in the future.”

”He was everything to us,” mom Sammy said. ”Now, there’s just a void. Our house is empty. Our world is empty. We have nothing.”

Jaxon’s favorite football club, Sheffield Wednesday, will hold a tribute during their match against Sunderland.

Spoiled teen mocked stewardess, not aware rich dad was watching

Andrew has always enjoyed a life of privilege. His father was a wealthy man who owned several businesses across New York and provided the perfect opportunities for his son. However, along the way, Andrew became a spoiled teen who started treating everyone with utmost disrespect.

One day, as he took a flight home, Andrew made a scene in front of the rest of the passengers when he demanded snacks from the stewardess. “You, NOW! Get me something better to snack on than this trash!” he told her as he threw the snacks at her.

“Sir, please don’t throw things at me,” the stewardess said, feeling humiliated.

“Listen to me carefully. I’ll do what I like,” Andrew yelled at her. “You’re here to serve me, so stop complaining, shut up and do your job!”

One of the passengers turned to him and demanded he treat the stewardess with respect, but Andrew, who was a spoiled teen, said he’d do whatever he wanted.

He started yelling again, demanding better snacks, but then he heard a familiar voice.

As he turned around, Andrew went pale.

“Dad, what are you doing here?” he asked his father, who was on the plane and witnessed his son’s outrageous behavior.

“I’m returning from a business trip,” his father, Steven said, “and I’m utterly disappointed in you young man.”

Neither Andrew nor his dad said another word to each other until the end of the flight that felt like years.

Once home, however, Steven told Andrew that he was starting public school the following day. “No more boarding school, Andrew, it looks like you haven’t learned anything there. I feel like I’m wasting my money on your education.”

Andrew couldn’t believe his dad’s words. “But dad…” he tried to fight his father’s words, but Steven wouldn’t let him finish the sentence.

“And yes, you are starting your job as a janitor at the airport starting tomorrow morning.”

Andrew was devastated. The next morning, he headed towards the airport. Mr. Clark, an elderly man, welcomed him and handed him a broom. “Make sure everything is spotless,” he said.

The day was hard. Andrew wasn’t used to working. He didn’t even know how to clean the place. What’s most, some of the people there didn’t treat him well.

A passenger who was rushing to catch a plane threw an empty bottle at him. “Hey, you, don’t throw things at me,” he yelled at the man.

And that’s when he understood how that stewardess must have felt like when he mocked her while acting like a spoiled teen.

Andrew understood what he did, and he was sorry.

The day went on and he struggled to have his work done. At one moment, he noticed the stewardess he mocked, and approached her with the words, “I’m that spoiled teen who treated you badly the other day.”

The stewardess recognized him. She smiled and said, “I guess you’ve though a lesson.”

Andrew said he regretted his behavior and apologized.

It took some time before he was able to convince his dad that he was now a changed young man, not that spoiled teen who mocked the poor stewardess.

At least he was taught a lesson he’s never forget.

A legacy of health: Soong Mei-ling – longevity and fight against cancer

Soong Mei-ling, also known as Madame Chiang, was a prominent political figure who played an influential role in Chinese politics and foreign relations in the first half of the 20th century.

She was the second wife of the Nationalist Chinese president Chiang Kai-shek. However, even before marrying him, she enjoyed a good life since her family was prosperous and successful.

Soong Mei-ling was diagnosed with cancer at the age of just 40, but she managed to beat the disease and went on to live to 106, stunning millions.

Eventually, she passed away in 2003.

Her longevity and healthy lifestyle attracted the attention of many, with Soong Mei-ling demonstrating the knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the importance of strict daily habits and nutrition.

She followed a bedtime routine that included going to bed at 11 p.m. and waking up at 9 a.m. She spent around two hours each day doing creative activities such as reading and drawing.

Soong Mei-ling started her days with a glass of cold water with lemon and gave a special place in her diet to kiwis, pineapples, and lychees.

One of the vegetables that was central in her eating regimen was the celery, which is highly favored in the traditional Chinese medicine. Celery is rich in proteins, carotenoids, carbs, and B vitamins among the rest. At the same time, it is simple and unexpensive to grow.

It is believed to support heart-health, protects eye-sight, supports weight-loss, and fights free radical damage.

Another staple of Soong Mei-ling’s diet was spinach, a plant rich in protein, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and vitamin B2. It delays aging, improves brain function, and supports stomach and pancreatic function.

Soong Mei-ling always had the eating habit of “eating small and frequent meals.” She had five meals a day, and she only ate until she was about 70% full for each meal, leaving her in a constant “semi-hungry” state.

Even today, many women who want to lose weight find inspiration in this woman’s diet.

JD Vance’s cousin blasts him for being Putin’s ‘useful idiot’

Nate Vance, Vice-President JD Vance’s cousin, slammed his cousin and President Donald Trump for their treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the infamous meeting at the Oval Office in February.

Speaking to BBC, Nate shared his disappointment in JD Vance for belittling the Ukrainian leader.

“There’s a certain level of decorum that I expect from political leaders, especially in front of cameras,” he said, adding that the meeting’s handling left him “not happy.”

Nate spent three years volunteering with the Ukrainian military following the war conflict with Russia.

This remark followed after previous comments made by Nate accusing Trump and Vance of acting as “useful idiots” for Russian President Vladimir Putin in their approach to the war.

Analysts considered the meeting between Trump and Vance with Zelenskyy a total debacle after it escalated into a heated argument. Trump criticized Zelenskyy while Vance questioned whether he had shown sufficient appreciation for U.S. assistance.

As the meeting blew up, Trump declared that he’s “determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved.” Then, Trump asked the Ukrainian leader to leave, which he did abruptly, without securing a deal for the U.S. to receive revenue from Ukraine’s minerals in exchange for military aid. Further, Trump warned Zelenskyy against “gambling with World War Three” and being “disrespectful.”

Commenting on the president’s words, Nate Vance said, “Zelensky does a daily or nightly address where he thanks everyone who supports Ukraine.” According to him, Zelensky may not have shown “enough deference to Donald Trump” but expecting such deference was unreasonable given that “my cousin and Donald Trump have been actively working against his initiatives for the past three years.”

Also, Nate commented on the incident when a reporter asked the Ukrainian leader about his choice of outfit, and why he wasn’t wearing a suit.

“Everyone knows why he dresses that way—it’s symbolic. Who cares? It’s a silly hill to die on,” he said. He pointed out that the head of DOGE, tech-billionaire Elon Musk fails to wear a suit while at the Oval Office at certain occasions and opts for a T-shirt instead, but no reporter has ever questioned his choice of clothing.

In an interview with Le Figaro, Vice-President JD Vance’s cousin described JD Vance as “a good guy, intelligent,” but depicted the encounter with Zelenskyy “an ambush of absolute bad faith.”

“I’ve been a Republican my whole life, so this is an odd position for me to take. But I’m passionate about it, and I think we’re handling this issue the wrong way,” he said.

Ever since the incident, Zelenskyy tried to fix the relationship with the States.
