Six siblings get adopted together after spending 1,640 days in foster care

Because of one reason or another, a lot of children end up being part of the foster care system. A lot of them go from one family to another before being adopted, if that ever happens.

When siblings are placed in foster care, they are likely to be separated because the people who look for a child to foster or adopt usually ask for a single kid only. Sadly, it means that some of these brothers and sister only get to reunite once they leave the system. For others, that never happens.

Carlos, 14, Guadalupe, 13, Maria, 12, Selena, 10, Nasa, 9, and Max, 7, had a rough start early in life.

Left to fend for themselves, and being in the system, these siblings’ future was uncertain. They didn’t want to get separated, but that wasn’t the choice they could make for themselves.

However, their life changed for the better when they least expected after a couple, Steve and Rob Anderson-McLean, stumbled upon a photo of this cute family of six.

Speaking to Today, Rob recalled: “We saw their picture and fell in love. So many sibling groups are broken up because people just want to adopt the younger children. Steve and I knew these guys needed to be together.” Luckily, that’s exactly what happened. In 2018, all the six siblings got a home without having to be parted from one another.

“After the first week they were asking if they could stay forever. We took them to the park and to the zoo. We played in the yard. That was all new to them. Having fun was new to them,” Steve shared with Today.

Time passed by, and the kids started feeling like home. In the meantime, the adoption process was ongoing and everyone was hoping that the family will stay together forever.

Luckily, that’s exactly what happened. The adoption was officialized in 2019, and those witnessing the moment at the court shed tears of joy for the new family. “The kids felt this huge sense of relief. They had been let down by adults so many times in their life, and were nervous it wasn’t going to happen, Steve said.

The kids couldn’t believe they were officially adopted. Steve recalled that one night, 7-year-old Max went to his room and wanted to make sure that they couldn’t possibly be unadopted. Steve assured him that they were now their children and no one could ever separate them.

We are so happy for this incredible family. We don’t get to read stories this uplifting every day, so make sure you share this one with your loved ones.
