The parent-child relationship can without a doubt be an uneasy one at times. The truth is that most moms and dads out there would give their world for their children and their well-being and they would certainly do all in their power to teach them right from wrong and help them turn into good people who would pursue their own happiness and become valuable members of the society.
Children, however, not always obey their parents or do what they are said. It is quite often that they would get themselves into trouble because of their behavior and would hide things from their parents. When this happens, it is a hard realization to their moms and dads that they failed at parenthood without being aware that most kids are like that.
At some point in their lives, most parents that their children aren’t innocent angels they pretend to be.
A mother took her daughter to the doctors to see what what causing her morning sickness and the cravings. Once she explained the symptoms to the doctor, he already assumed what could be wrong with the 16-year-old girl, but wouldn’t jump into conclusions before running some tests.
Shortly after, the doctor informed the mother that her daughter was pregnant. “Well, I don’t know how to tell you this, but your Mandy is pregnant.” To her shock, he added, “About four months would be my guess.”
Looking at the doctor, the mother, who’s world turn upside down at that moment, said, “Pregnant?! She can’t be, she has never ever been left alone with a man! Have you, Mandy?”
Mandy, of course, agreed with her mother. “No mother! I’ve never even kissed a man!”
At that moment, the doctor, already fed-up with the mother-daughter theatrics, stood by the window and started staring outside while holding the results of a positive pregnancy test in his hand. He didn’t say a word for a while before the mother approached him and said, “Is there something wrong out there doctor!?”
As though he was waiting for such a question he turned to her and answered, “No, not really,” allowing a brief pause before looking little Mandy dead in the eye and adding, “It’s just that the last time anything like this happened, a star appeared in the East and three wise men came over the hill. I’ll be darned if I’m going to miss it this time!”
It was then that both Mandy and her mother were forced to accept the reality, no matter how much it made them mad and disappointed.
The tests weren’t lying, and the proof of that was to arrive some months later.
This story is the perfect reminder that no matter how much we love and trust our children, we should always take their words with a pinch of salt because they do tend to hide the truth from their parents at certain point in their life.
