Matthew Perry, the star of the iconic TV show Friends, died aged 54 over the weekend leaving millions of fans mourning his loss.
The investigation regarding Perry’s tragic passing is still ongoing, but according to the first responders who arrived at his LA home where he was found unresponsive in the hot tub, the actor drowned. Now, they are sharing the events which unfolded after discovering his body.
When Perry’s assistant, whom he refereed to as Erin in his memoir, returned home after running errands, she found Perry’s head underwater, Captain Erik Scott of the LAFD reported.
“Los Angeles City Firefighters responded [and] found an adult male unconscious in a stand-alone hot tub. A bystander had brought the man’s head above the water and gotten him to the edge, then firefighters removed him from the water upon their arrival,” Captain Scott said.
“A rapid medical assessment sadly revealed the man was deceased prior to first responder arrival. The circumstances are under investigation by LAPD and the LA County Medical Examiner. We mourn with families and friends who lose a loved one unexpectedly,” he continued.
At the time being, the initial post-mortem results are ‘inconclusive’ and the cause of death is yet to be determined. Further investigations, including a toxicology report, have been requested.
It has been reported that prior to his passing, Perry played a game of pickleball, a game he was a huge fan of.
Tributes are still pouring in for the much-loved actor.
