From the moment she first appeared on American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has stolen millions of hearts. Some 20 years later, she’s still considered an American sweetheart and one of the best female singers there are.

Kelly was born on April 24, 1982, in Fort Worth, Texas. She has always loved singing and performing, although she only did it at home until her music teacher, Cindy Glenn, heard her sing in the hallway of Pauline Hughes Middle School. Kelly was offered a place in the school choir and soon after everyone learned how talented she was.

This America’s sweetheart who taught us that in life everything is possible didn’t have it easy early in life as her father abandoned her and her family, and that left a huge mark on Kelly who found it difficult to trust men ever again.

When she started dating her now ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, everyone agreed that she met just the right person for her. Brandon has always appeared as loving and invested in the marriage.

Shortly after tying the knot, the couple welcomed their first child, daughter River Rose. In 2016, they welcomed son Remington. Together with Brandon’s two children from a previous relationship, they made a cute blended family.

“Brandon is not my other half. He’s a whole, and I’m a whole. I’ve never believed in someone taking care of me, and that’s probably because I grew up poor and without a lot of family stability,” Kelly said of Brandon back in the day.

Everything seemed perfect and Kelly and Brandon were considered one of the best celeb couples, but that all changed in 2020 when Kelly filled for divorce. The news came as huge shock to many, especially her fans. Nothing spoke trouble, so it didn’t come as a surprise that people started wondering what was going on behind closed door throughout the years.

Kelly hasn’t often spoke publicly of her divorce, but recently, during an appearance on IRL podcast, she opened up about the entire experience after she was asked what divorce “does to you.”

“It rips you apart, whenever you fall in love with someone and it doesn’t work,” the singer said.

“I think the thing about divorce — especially having it publicised, and people thinking they know the whole thing, the hardest part of that is, like, it wasn’t an overnight decision.”

“Anyone that’s been divorced knows that was years in trying to make, not make it work – I never wanted to be part of something to ‘make it work.’”

She then added: “I wanted to make it beautiful, I wanted to make it awesome, I wanted to make it everything it possibly could be, and sometimes that just doesn’t happen.”

The 40-year-old also spoke of how the divorce affected her two children.

“Sometimes they’ll say, especially the past two years, and it kills me and I want them to be honest, so I don’t ever say, ‘Oh god, don’t tell me that,’ but a lot of times it would be like, ‘You know, I’m just really sad, I wish mommy and daddy were in the same house.’

“They’re really honest about it, I’m raising that kind of individual.

Following the divorce, it has been revealed by the media that she should be paying whooping $200,000 a month to her ex-husband as part of divorce proceedings.
