Grocery store owner bans Pepsi products once he notices offensive logo

A store owner from Athens, Alabama, made a decision that divided people’s opinions and triggered an online debate after he decided he won’t be selling two particular Pepsi products.

Phillip Stewart, the owner of S&Z Grocery, explained that he simply couldn’t sell something that he himself was against, and that’s the NFL, whose logo was printed on the products in question.

Speaking to WAFF, he said, “I don’t want to support them in any way, because I feel like its’s just wrong.” He then added: “I can’t in good conscious sell the product, because it does have the logo on it.

Through a Facebook post, Steward informed his customers he will be pulling off the products because he didn’t agree with the way some NFL athletes disrespected the flag by bowing down during the national anthem.

A number of players were taking a knee during the anthem as a form of protest against police brutality and the treatment of people of color.

Stewart explained that he perfectly understands why the athletes were protesting about, but he believed “there are other ways to deal with it.”

“This has brought attention to it I’m sure there is good that comes from this, I just don’t agree with the tactic,” he said.

This owner had nothing against the purpose of the protest or Pepsi. On the contrary, he continues selling their products, just not the ones with the NFL logo on them.

As some people believed Stewart’s decision was silly, there were also those who praised him for standing up for his beliefs.
