Golden Retriever saves everyone at hospital

That morning, the hospital was unusually full. Routine maintenance was scheduled, and emergency patients were being treated. Buddy, the Golden Retriever, was at his usual spot, just next to the reception. He was moving his tail as people passed by. Those who visited the hospital often knew him already. Buddy was quiet and loving, but that morning, he started behaving strangely.

All of a sudden, the sweet dog started pacing the hallway. His ears pricked, and his eyes fixed on the emergency generator room. At first, staff thought he just wanted to go outside. But his barking grew urgent, sharp, almost demanding attention and it was enough for the doctors and nurses to realize that something wasn’t right.

Then out of the blue, smoke started to appear through the vents. A short-circuited wire had ignited a small fire near the oxygen tanks. If those tanks caught fire, the lower floor could have been destroyed, including the emergency room above.

Mark, a member of the staff, hit the fire alarm, shouting for everyone to evacuate. The hospital’s electrical system faltered, though, and the alarm didn’t work properly so people didn’t realize the danger quickly enough.

Buddy wasted no time. He ran through the corridors, barking at patients who hadn’t moved, guiding staff and children toward exits. He nudged wheelchairs, alerted doors that were closed, and kept going despite smoke thickening around him.

When everyone was safe, the hospital fell silent for a moment before applause and tears broke out.

Everyone was in awe by the dog’s bravery. Dr. Lewis, the hospital director, called it “the bravest and most instinctive act of heroism we have ever seen.” News crews arrived, and Buddy’s story spread around, serving as a reminder of dog’s love and loyalty towards humans.

Until that morning, everyone thought of Buddy as of the hospital’s mascot. But after his heroic act, he became a symbol of loyalty, awareness, and love. His paw prints were painted near the entrance, and a plaque was placed by the generator room.

Years later, when Buddy passed away, the hospital held a small ceremony. Families, staff, and patients gathered to honor him. As the sun set, a rainbow appeared over the building, as though Buddy’s spirit was standing guard one last time, watching over everyone he had saved.
