Couple try for a girl “one last time,” End up with quintuplets

Megan Hulen and her husband Joshua were happy to have two boys. However, deep down, they always wanted a daughter, too. So, when their younger boy turned two, they decided to have yet another baby, hoping it would be a girl. They would have been equally excited with a third boy, of course, but having a girl was their big wish.

Eventually, Megan fell pregnant. However, when she had an ultrasound, doctors shared some news that left the entire family overwhelmed. There were five babies inside Meghan’s belly, she was carrying quintuplets.

What made everyone shocked is that she conceived naturally, not through a medically enhanced procedure.

“Went to our first ultrasound at six weeks and found out that there were five,” Megan said.

“Pretty shocking. Exciting and terrifying all at once, I’d say,” dad Joshua said.

So, did this family have their wish of having a daughter come true? Yes, and not once, but four times. Meghan and Joshua welcomed four beautiful girls, Chloe, Emma, Allison, and Madison, and baby boy Adam.

Being born at 32 weeks, a pregnancy like Meghan’s happens once in 43 million times.

At the same time, these proud mom and dad were the first couple to have quintuplets in the state of North Dakota!

“It’s miraculous but overwhelming all at the same time,” Joshua said.

During the pregnancy, Meghan and Joshua weren’t certain if all of their babies would survive as it is not unusual in multiple pregnancies for some of the babies to die inside the womb.

“They’re not viable, or one or two vanish, or those types of things happen,” Megan said. “And so we thought, ‘OK, there’s not going to be five. There’s going to be two, three, or something. We went back after a week, and there were five heartbeats.”

Although raising 7 children under one roof is a demanding task, these parents love it.

“We’re super excited and happy to have a big family. It’s bigger than what we anticipated, but we’re blessed, and we’re happy about it,” Joshua said.

“And at some point in the future, when we get to sleep again, we’ll be thankful for that too,” he added.

We wish this beautiful family only the best life brings.
