It goes without saying that French-born actor Alain Delon is still considered one of the ultimate symbols of not only European, but the world’s cinema. He has had a sensational career and starred in a number of iconic movies which helped him reach the pedestal and stay there for many years.
Among the rest, he landed a role in Purple Noon, 1960, which is considered to be his first major project. It is a brilliant thriller that borrowed inspiration from the famous Patricia Highsmith novel The Talented Mr. Ripley. That same year, he had his breakthrough performance which propelled him into proper stardom in Rocco and His Brothers. In 1962, he played alongside Italian actress Monica Vitti in The Eclipse, under the direction of acclaimed Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni. For his role, he won the Special Jury Prize at the Cannes festival, and was nominated for the Palme d’Or.
In the 1960’s, Delon tried to make it big in America. He landed some small parts in movies The Yellow Rolls-Royce, 1965, which also starred Shirley MacLaine.
Delon then signed with Columbia and starred in Lost Command, alongside Anthony Quinn and Claudia Cardinale, and Texas Across the River, opposite Dean Martin, among the rest. However, at the time, he didn’t feel like he was reaching the stardom he hoped for so he returned to France where he featured in another big hit as hitman Frank Costello in Le Samouraï.
Being a huge celebrity and someone many generations loved and adored, Delon’s private life has always been of great interest with the public.
The actor with signature piercing blue eyes and natural French charm dated stunning Romy Schneider for five years before they called it quits and he married another woman that same year. Delon and actress Natalie Delon tied the knot in 1964 and divorced just five years later, welcoming son Anthony in the meantime.
Delon had relationships with actresses Mireille Darc and Anne Parillaud. In the 1980s, he began a two-decade long relationship with Dutch model Rosalie van Breemen with whom he welcomed two children, daughter Anouchka Delon (born in 1990), and another son, Alain-Fabien Delon (born in 1994).
His youngest son, Alain-Fabien, not only followed into his famous dad’s footsteps, but he’s inherited the great looks too. He resembles the legendary actor so much, that people can’t help but say he’s spitting image of Alain Delon, and we can only agree with that.
The 28-year-old has been in a number of movies, including Savage Days (2021), Fabio Montale (2001) and Ultra Pure.
We wish Alain-Fabien a lot of success in his career.
