Prince Harry reveals what Meghan Markle prayed for at Princess Diana’s grave

Princess Diana wasn’t an ordinary princess, she was the People’s Princess, and it was easy to see why. She possessed nurturing and compassionate nature, as well as love for the ordinary citizens, for which she will forever be remembered as the woman who changed Britain and the Monarchy.

At the time of her death, Princess Diana’s sons, Harry and William, were only 12 and 15 years old.

She lost her life after she and her partner Dodi Fayed, the son of Egyptian billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, her driver Henri Paul, and her bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones crashed the Mercedes in the Pont de I’Alma tunnel in Paris while trying to escape the paparazzi.

Even years after her sudden passing, neither William nor Harry ever miss a chance to remind everyone of their love for their late mother.

While Meghan Markle never actually crossed paths with Princess Diana, a royal expert suggests she was aiming to position herself as the next “People’s Princess”. In his book House of Beckham, which looks into David and Victoria Beckham’s lives, biographer Tom Bower noted that upon returning from a highly successful royal tour of Australia, Meghan Markle saw herself as “the royal family’s new Diana.”

At the same time, she wasn’t happy that “in the royal hierarchy she was subservient to Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and the future Queen.”

Back in 2022, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made a trip to Althorp, the final resting place of the Princess of Wales.

In his tell-all memoir Spare, the Duke opened up about what exactly went down during that emotional visit. He shared that while he stepped away for a moment to lay down some flowers and have a private talk with his mother, Meghan Markle decided to pray to pay her respects.

“No visit to this place was ever easy, but this one… twenty-fifth anniversary,” Prince Harry wrote in Spare. “And Meg’s first time. At long last, I was bringing the girl of my dreams home to meet mum.”

“We hesitated, hugging, and then I went first. I placed flowers on the grave. Meg gave me a moment, and I spoke to my mother in my head, told her I missed her, asked her for guidance and clarity.”

Harry continued, “Feeling that Meg might also want a moment, I went around the hedge, scanned the pond. When I came back, Meg was kneeling, eyes shut, palms against the stone.

“I asked, as we walked back to the boat, what she’d prayed for,” Prince Harry added. “Clarity, she said. And guidance.”
