Renowned Hollywood actor and filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home on December 14, and their son, Nick Reiner has since been arrested in relation to the murders of his parents. He will be charged with two counts of first-degree murder with a special circumstance of using a deadly weapon.

Allegedly, what preceded to the murders was a heated argument between the father and son that took place on Saturday, December 13, at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party.

“Nick was freaking everyone out, acting crazy, kept asking people if they were famous,” a source shared with TMZ.

Just two days later, authorities were called at what they described as a “horror double murder” scene.

By the time they were discovered by their daughter, Romy Reiner, the couple had been dead for several hours. Nick was arrested soon after.

He was supposed to appear at court on December 16, but failed to do so due to medical reasons, his attorney said.

In the meantime, a footage showing Nick’s final hours before the arrest emerged on the social media. After he allegedly murdered his parents, he was seen casually getting himself a drink at a gas station.

What shocked many was that while Nick was standing in the convenience store late Sunday night waiting to pick up his drink, he seemed almost eerily calm. Video released by ABC7 shows him wearing jeans, striped jacket, a baseball cap and a red backpack calmly reaching into his pockets, taking out his wallet and paying the clerk.

The video was recorded shortly before Nick turned surrendered to the police on a Los Angeles street about 15 miles from the Brentwood home where authorities say Rob and Michele Reiner were discovered dead.

Additional video obtained by The New York Post shows Nick raising his hands in surrender at two patrol cars pulling up at approximately 9:15 p.m. Shortly after that, additional police units arrived at the location, with officers exiting their vehicles and drawing their weapons on him.

From the separate photos released earlier by the LAPD’s Gang and Narcotics Unit, that has since been deleted, Nick is shown being taken to the ground and cuffed on the sidewalk. He was wearing the same outfit as in the previous footage.

District Attorney Nathan Hochman said that the charges against Nick carry a maximum penalty of life in prison without the possibility of parole, or even the death penalty. He, however, added it hasn’t been decided whether prosecutors will seek the death penalty.
