The devastating Texas floods claimed 109 lives, with more than 117 still missing after water levels rose 26 feet in only 45 minutes on the weekend of Fourth of July.

The extensive rainfall led the Guadalupe river to overflow, causing destruction, with the Kerr County being hit the hardest.

One of the many tragic storis that come from Texas has been shared by a sister and brother whose father left them heartbreaking goodbye voicemails before he and his wife were swept by the floods.

While the father, 61-year-old Jeff Ramsey is officially considered missing, the family believes he died after the floodwaters struck his Airstream at the HTR RV Park in Kerrville.

Jeff was staying at the camp with his wife, Tanya, and their dog.

“Once they realized there was nothing they could do, my stepmom was on the phone with her mom while my dad made a call to me and my sister. We were asleep. He left us a message saying he was not going to make it and that he loved us so much, telling us goodbye,” Jeff’s son, Jake said.

“He called me once he realized there was no hope. It was a short voicemail. He just left me a voicemail. He said, ‘Buddy. I love you so much. It doesn’t look like we are going to make it. Tell Rachey I love her’.”

Jake explained that it felt odd hearing his father’s fearful voice. The sound of rushing water could be heard in the background.

While Jeff called his children to tell them he loved them, he also used the final moments of his life to save other people. According to Jake, his father called his wife’s brother, who was staying some 150 yards up from the river in another cabin, to warn him and his family of the raising water.

“He rescued them because they would have slept in and they would have washed away. That cabin was destroyed, completely underwater. He saved their lives,” Jake added.

Since the tragic incident, Tanya’s body was located by the rescuers.
