Kindness makes the world go round. It is the quiet force that lifts spirits and restores our faith in humanity.
A Facebook post by a woman named Yolanda Palacios touched the hearts of many, reminding thousands who have seen the post that even the tiniest act of kindness always goes a long way.
“So last night we went to go eat at Olive Garden. My mother who is 79 years young decided to sit at the corner of the table where she felt more comfortable and had open space if she needed to get up during dinner,” Yolanda started her story.
At the time their orders arrived, Yolanda was talking to her 15-year-old who was sitting in front of her. Then, in one moment, she turned to her left to check on her mom, and what she saw moved her deeply.

The waitress, a young woman named Susie, was cutting her mom’s steak.
Yolanda was in awe and thanked Susie for her lovely gesture, to what she replied, “No problem I don’t mind, I have grandparents and I know how it is at times.”
Yolanda felt overwhelmed with gratitude as Susie kept asking her mom “is this ok? Let me cut this one up more for you.”
“She stood there cutting the meat into smaller pieces for a good 3 minutes. My mom would turn to look at me smiling as I would smile back at her,” her post read.
Yolanda made sure Susie’s manager knew how kind she was to her mother.
“I expressed my gratitude towards her and told him this kind of heart she has is full of caring and compassion. It’s not taught by employers. That she should be commended and be acknowledged for going a step further in her service which now a days is lacking in many establishments. Susie deserves the recognition!”
Olive Garden re-shared Yolanda’s post.
The restaurant wrote they are grateful to have team members as Susie who go the extra mile for their customers.
Countless people took their time to comment and praise Susie’s kindness.
“I love people like that; she is lovely with so much class,” one person commented.
“What a wonderful young lady. Wished there were more like her in the world. Sweetest gesture. Her parents should be proud,” another added.
