WWII Veteran celebrates 100th birthday with a parade – Happy Birthday

“Major Matt Davis, along with officers of the Lexington Police Department, were honored to celebrate the 100th birthday of Charles Siniard with family, friends, and staff at Carolina Gardens Senior Living at Lexington,” the video of the celebration of the milestone birthday of war veteran Charles Siniard said.

Siniard, who now spends his days at a nursing home, had no idea that he would be offered such an incredible tribute for his birthday.

The officers from Lexington Police Department organized a parade and honked with their vehicle as they passed by Siniard’s place. He was sitting outside, feeling happy and excited he was honored that way.

His relatives describe Siniard as “a good man, served his country, served his lord, faithful, still doing it, everybody looks up to him, he’s just a good man,” as they speak to WITX.com news. The staff at the nursing home speak of him as “a breath of fresh air.”

Siniard did a lot for this country, and celebrating his 100th birthday is the least the community can do for him. After the war, he worked several jobs and retired as a trucking supervisor. He has been married for 70 years and has a son.

Besides a parade during which the officers were holding “Happy Birthday” signs, they also handed him a letter of commendation thanking him for his service.

Siniard said he appreciated everything and was happy he got such a surprise. His motto in life is “to always have a positive attitude, even at 100.”

Happy birthday, Mr. Siniard. We wish you only the best in the years to come and we are very glad that our veterans are given the gratitude they deserve.
