Woman Transforms a Plane Into a Stunning Home!

Buses, tiny homes, and shipping containers have seen a rise in popularity as creative building materials for unique homes. But what if we told you someone took this trend to new heights? This is the story of how a woman transforms plane house into a luxurious and functional home.

One-of-a-Kind Housing

In 1993, Jo Ann Ussery faced unexpected tragedy when her house was destroyed in a storm. With limited funds and two children to care for, she had to think outside the box. That’s when her brother-in-law, an air traffic controller, suggested she consider an airplane as her new home. This incredible story showcases how a woman transforms plane house into something extraordinary.

Ussery purchased a decommissioned Boeing 727 for just $2,000, plus shipping costs. Nicknamed “Little Trump” after Donald Trump’s private plane, the aircraft became her blank canvas. She spent under $30,000 renovating the interior, creating one of the most impressive transformations of its kind.

Major Refurbishment

The 138-foot-long Boeing 727 offered nearly 1,500 square feet of space, making it ideal for conversion. Ussery parked the plane nose-first over a lake on her property, creating a scenic view from what used to be the cockpit. This was just one of the creative touches that showed how a woman transforms plane house into a stunning, functional home.

Inside, Ussery installed three bedrooms, a kitchen, a laundry room, and even a master bathroom. The cockpit was transformed into a luxurious bath with a soaking tub overlooking the lake. While the exterior retained the airplane’s iconic look, the interior became a cozy and stylish home.

A Plane House Like No Other

Ussery’s incredible vision proved that even a retired aircraft could become a beautiful living space. For several years, she lived in the plane house before planning to open it as a museum. Unfortunately, during transportation, the plane was tragically damaged beyond repair. Yet her story remains an inspiring example of how a woman transforms plane house into something truly extraordinary.
