Why you should never throw coffee grounds ever again

Starting the morning with a cup of coffee is a common ritual for millions of people worldwide. The truth is that many of us enjoy this beverage not only for its deeply satisfying aroma and taste but also because it helps boost our energy, keep us wake when we need it, and enhances our mood.

Of course, coffee is also related to socializing, and meetings, as well as to relaxed breaks.

But have you ever thought about the coffee grounds? Most of us just throw it in the garbage without being aware of their usage. Yes, coffee grounds are versatile. They can be used as natural fertilizers, for removing grease from the dishes, and as an insect repellent, among the rest.

If your yard gets “invaded” by wasps, mosquitoes, or ants, just use coffee grounds. A research from 2015 confirmed that these insects find the coffee aroma unpleasant, so it would keep them away. Simply place coffee grounds around the plants or along the pathways and add a few drops of lemon on it for a better effect.

Feeding your plants with coffee grounds will result in rich soil.

Further, it will attract warms, and we all know that warms mean healthy garden, and will repel snails and slugs. In case you own a cat, the smell of the coffee would keep it from digging and pooping in the garden.

If you opt for natural ways to keep the strange odor out of your fridge, place a bowl of coffee grounds inside. In no time, your fridge, as well as your freezer, would smell pleasant and nice.

Another purpose of coffee grounds, among the many, is that it absorbs the grease from pots and pans. Use it to scrub them and make them shiny again.

The beauty of coffee grounds is that they can be used for beautifying and exfoliating our skin and getting rid of the bags under our eyes.

In case you want to give it a go, here’s a recipe for the cream that helps with the bags under the eyes. Mix 3 tbsp coconut oil, 2 tbsp almond oil, and 5 tbsp coffee grounds in a saucepan. Boil for 30 minutes, strain, add 2 more tbsp coconut oil, and mix well. Pour into jars. Use under eyes for a healthy glow.

Who knew that the coffee leftovers can be used in so many ways.
