Trump wanted comedian deported over golf course joke

Donald Trump’s policies have been a hot topic since his re-election in November 2024. From the tariffs imposed on nearly every country in the world to his administration’s handling of migration, many of his decisions have sparked significant controversy.

When he’s not busy signing executive orders and changing laws, Trump enjoys playing golf at the lavish courses he owns.

Despite being 78, he is described as “a steady single-digit player who hits a solid deceptively long ball….and he plays quickly, very quickly.”

At the re-opening of the Trump Turnberry golf resort back in 2016, the business mogul–turned president became a “victim” of notorious comedian and prankster Simon Brodkin known for his alter ego Lee Nelson.

As Trump started his speech, Brodkin threw some swastika-emblazoned golf balls around him and yelled: “Donald, here are the balls you ordered.”

“I’m very sorry Mr Trump and thank you,” he shouted, holding up the balls. “And thank you, I apologise. My bad.”

Brodkin was then taken away by the Scottish police who recognized him and “convinced Trump to not press charges.”

“I do have a criminal record, but also a lot to thank the Scottish police for – they were brilliant,” Nelson told The Scottish Sun.

Comedian Simon Brodkin added that Trump “wanted to throw the book at him.”

“Who wants to get waterboarded by the CIA when you can have an Irn Bru in the back of a police van?

“I was in there for ages with the coppers, and it felt more like I was on a stag do than anything else. They drove me to the airport and put me on a plane back to London and told Trump and his team I was deported.”

Among the rest, Brodkin’s pranks include joining in with the Manchester City team’s warm-up, after which he was charged and arrested, storming the stage during Kanye West’s performance at Glastonbury in 2015, and throwing $600 at FIFA President Sepp Blatter and shouting it was for North Korea’s bid to host the World Cup.

“There’s many targets who would be fun to go for but might end up with a death sentence,” Brodkin told Sky in 2019. “Like if I went for Kim Jong Un.

“And then I think if you go for someone like the Queen, that would just be a national catastrophe because you need to go for people with that sweet spot who most people pat you on the back and go, ‘that was funny.'”
