The nickname Prince William has for Charlotte means “small, sweet, and delicate” in French

The life of the Royals has always been of great interest to the wide public, so it’s not surprising that people can’t wait to get a glimpse or learn something more about Britain’s most famous family.

Back in 2019, Prince William and Kate Middleton shared a rare video of them and their children at Kate’s impeccably breathtaking garden created at the world’s most prestigious flower show, the Chelsea Flower Show, which “features the very best that the gardening world has to offer, from cutting-edge garden design to dazzling floral displays from every corner of the globe,” as put by House Beautiful.

The sneak-peak shared on Instagram shows some adorable moments the family shared, among which one between Prince William and his girl, Charlotte, which reveals his nickname for her. As he’s swinging on a rope, he asks Charlotte to push him and could be heard calling her “Mignonette.”

In French, this cute-sounding word means “small, sweet, and delicate” or “cute.” At the same time, it stands for gentle and kind.

But did you know that Kate also has a nickname for her daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, whose name pays tribute to her great-grandfather, Prince Charles, her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, as well as her grandma Princess Diana?

A mom named Laura-Ann posted on Instagram that she met Kate during the Princess’ trip to Northern Ireland in 2019 and the two engaged in a casual conversation when Kate revealed how she calls her only daughter. “She asked how old Bertie is, and I said he is four and she said, ‘Oh, he’s the same age as Lottie.’ She calls her Lottie!”

That nicknames have always existed in the Royal family speaks the one late Princess Diana gave to her son, Prince William. Apparently, she called him wombat. “When we went to Australia with our parents, and the wombat, you know, that’s the local animal, so I just basically got called that, not because I look like a wombat, or maybe I do,” William said in 2007, according to Marie Claire. “I can’t get rid of it now. It began when I was two.”

According to The Sun, Prince William has a bunch of nicknames for his wife, among which, darling, babe, babykins, and poppet. But it isn’t just William who calls Kate other than her real name, Catherine, which she says she prefers over Kate, but Harry too. It has been revealed recently, that Harry calls his sister-in-law Cath, and we think that’s adorable.
