British supermodel Georgina Cooper died aged 46, just months after she got married.
According to her agent, Dean Goodman, “Georgina had been unwell during Covid and had developed some health problems and had been in and out of hospital.
“But she had plans for the future. She had just married and was looking forward to her life. Everybody is devastated. She was a genuine superstar,” he said.
“She loved Greece and told me that she was going back with her new husband – but she has tragically died there a fortnight ago,” Goodman revealed.
Spotted by a modeling agency at just 13, Cooper made her first big impression at 15, starring in a Bon Jovi music video that kickstarted her career.
Best known for her work in the 1990s “Cool Britannica” wave, London’s ‘original gap toothed girl’ became one of the iconic faces of the nineties.
Over the course of her modeling career, Cooper appeared on the cover of a number of influential fashion magazines, including Vogue.
“George,” as she was called by her close friends, stepped away from modeling to dedicate herself to raising her son, Sonny. Recently, she’s been working in Kent’s hospitality industry, a stark contrast to the glitz and glamour of the fashion world.
Model and friend Jade Parfitt told Daily Mail: “Her friends and family are absolutely devastated, Georgina was a ray of light, a very popular model who was riotous fun, always laughing and being naughty in all the best ways. We all wanted to hang out with George backstage. Her achievements in the industry were huge.”
Carole White, a former model agency executive said, “She was so much fun. When she was young, she made a lot of money and she had this very edgy streak that was of the time. Everyone found the gap between her teeth quite amazing.”
She was a close friend of fellow model Kate Moss and was a regular on the runways of brands like Helmut Lang, Giorgio Armani, Calvin Klein and Hussein Chalayan.
