Rumors are that Prince Harry misses his old life. Back in Britain, Harry was a much-loved figure. He had plenty of friends and was heavily involved in royal engagements, serving his country the best he could. At the same time, he was also involved in philanthropic work, something close to his heart, but things slowed down regarding his charitable activities after his marriage to Meghan Markle.
Royal experts, among which Tom Quinn, claim that Harry is looking for a permanent “home” in the UK.
“As time goes by, Harry misses some aspects of his old life in the UK. Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles,” Quinn told the Mirror.
“He misses his Old Etonian and army friends, many of whom have not visited as they don’t get on with Meghan. Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security.”
According to royal expert Jennie Bond, Meghan Markle is unsettled by the fact that Harry is dwelling on what might have been instead of focusing on the present.
“If Meghan is encouraging Harry to leave the past behind and move on, then I think it is a healthy move. They have made their decision, left the working royal family and left the UK,” Bond said.
Recently, Harry took an eight-day trip to London and New York all by himself, attending a charity benefit in California hosted by actor Kevin Costner and a dinner hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), where he met with eminent figures such as Queen Mathilde of Belgium and actor Forest Whitaker.
Further, he made a stop at New York where he showed his support for some of the causes that he holds close to his heart; African Parks, The HALO Trust, and The Diana Award.
The Duke then visited his homeland and attended the WellChild’s annual awards ceremony in London.
Many experts saw this as a sign that he wants to find a purpose in his life and “assert himself” independently.
Will Harry’s wish to want more for himself lead to a separation with Meghan? Likely not, because he wouldn’t want his children to experience a messy divorce by his parents the way he had. But is that enough reason for him to stay in the marriage?
Princess Diana’s former Butler Paul Burrell said, “We all know” that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s marriage is going to end in divorce, but if Prince Harry left now “he’d lose his children,” calling Harry “brainwashed.”
“I’ve always been worried about Harry. Am I the only person in the United Kingdom that is thinking that Harry (has) finally woken up to the truth?” Mr Burrell told GB News host Dan Wootton back in 2023.
“Has he finally seen the truth of what his wife is doing? That he’s been brainwashed and that he’s been mesmerized by her beauty.”
He then added: “I personally know Harry and I think he’s always wanted to be a father. He always wanted children.”
“I think he would want to stay in that driving seat [and not split with Meghan in order] to watch his children grow.”
“If he left his relationship now, he’d lose his children because she’d keep them in America and he wouldn’t see them. But I have no doubt that when this happens – because we all know that it will happen – he will return to the United Kingdom.”
A possible divorce from Meghan, that no one wants to see coming, would mean Harry rebuilding his relationship with his father and brother, as well as the rest of the royals.
At this point, it seems like Harry has lost many of the things he has loved and has fought for while being part of the royalty.
