Plus-size influencer says airlines should accommodate people like her

Are airline companies doing enough to accommodate curvier passengers and ensure their comfort during flights? According to plus-size influencer Emily Jones, the answer to this question is a resounding “no.”

Jones, who frequently travels between Malta, the UK, and Finland, believes the travel industry, as well as the hotels from around the world, should impose changes that would better suit the needs of oversize travelers.

This influencer shares her journeys on her Instagram account, @miss__jones, encouraging plus-size people to get out of their comfort zone and explore the world.

“I want to promote easy travel for people of all sizes and shapes – and make them feel they deserve to see the world just like other people,” she says.

One of the changes she believes airplanes should do in order to better serve larger individuals by creating a a safe and welcoming space for them, is to make extend the length of seatbelts.

“Seeing this being destigmatized, so people can travel comfortably and without the added anxiety, would be a dream come true,” she posted on the social media.

Jones also advocates for more spacious seating options, or at least additional cushioning and adjustable armrests.

When it comes to accommodation, Jones wants hotels to provide large towels and bathrobes in order to create a welcoming feeling to plus-size guests.

As she’s sharing her journeys with her followers, Jones says that the situation regarding larger individuals is indeed changing for the better as more and more hotels offer conditions that make these individuals feel included.

Based on her own personal experience, one of the best places that offer warm and welcoming environment for plus-size tourists are the Seychelles in Africa.
