A new form of sexuality is taking the world of LGBTQAI+ by storm, with members of this community sharing on the social media they are now ‘berrisexual.’
The term refers to someone who can feel attraction to all genders, but usually has a stronger pull toward women and feminine or androgynous nonbinary people, while attraction to men or more masculine individuals is less frequent or less intense.
According to social media users, the label fits people who are “usually only attracted to women/feminine-aligned genders and nonbinary/androgynous-aligned genders, but occasionally feel little attraction to men/masculine-aligned genders.”
Even with the definition, it’s easy to feel lost. With so many identity labels and ways to describe attraction, the whole spectrum can feel too big to follow.
While berrisexual is a newer term than bisexual or pansexual, it still deserves recognition.
Some Reddit users even said they were relieved to find a label that feels right for them.
“Many people don’t know about berris**ual, and we need more representation!” one person wrote on Reddit.
“Now I don’t have to pick because berri fits like a glove,” another added, referencing a previous struggle to define their sexuality.
“Berrisexuality is about attraction to all genders… you can always date a man,” a contributor wrote on the LGBTQIA+ Fandom forum.
Online LGBTQIA+ glossaries describe berrisexuality (or Laurian) as a micro-label, a more specific identity that falls under the broader multisexual umbrella. They add that micro-labels aren’t about adding confusion but about helping people find the term that fits them best.
Berrisexuality pushes back against the idea that attraction has to be perfectly balanced to be legitimate. One Urban Dictionary entry describes it as a label for people who “usually don’t feel attracted to guys” but might make an exception for someone truly special.
