Lions walks on grass for the first time after spending their lifetime locked inside a cage

Being given the chance to live in their natural habitat, animals thrive. In fact, the nature is the only place where wild animals should spend their days. Sadly, a huge number of them end up locked up and are used for profit by the people.

Take the circus for example. Many lions, tigers, bears, snakes, monkeys, elephants, and other species, are forced to perform for the crowds who are cheering out loud, probably not being aware of the animals’ suffering.

The animals pay the ultimate price, and the good thing is that this starts to change, one step at a time, all thanks to animal lovers, advocates, and organizations throughout the world.

Recently, the government in Guatemala passed a law which bans circuses from using animals.

As a result, all those creatures who lived locked inside cages got to experience freedom for the first time in their life. Among the rescued animals were nine tigers and five lions who were taken in by Animal Defenders International (ADI) and placed at a temporary rescue center build especially for them.

The journey towards liberty of two of the lions, Tarzan and Tanya, was caught on tape. It truly shows the ultimate satisfaction of the hard work by the organizations which fought for these creatures’ freedom.

Tanya stepped out of the cage first, and Tarzan followed her. They stepped on grass for the first time ever, and everyone who saw the video could feel their relief.

After they went through the process of rehabilitation, Tarzan and Tanya were sent to their permanent home, a sanctuary in South Africa.
