When Kevin Howard, a man from North Carolina, tied the knot with his wife some 12 years ago, he was certain it would be forever.
However, things started going south between them and they both agreed to attend couple’s therapy and smooth things down. Although they both seemed interested in fixing their relationship, Kevin knew his wife was hiding something from him.
So, he decided to hire a private detective and make sure she wasn’t lying to him. Sadly, he learned that she was having an affair with a co-worker whom Kevin believed was her friend.
Saddened by the discovery, he decided to call his marriage quits and filed for divorce, which was a painful one.
Convinced that the other man was the one who interfered in his marriage and broke it, Kevin decided to sue him for that.
Believe it or not, prosecutors found the lover guilty of destroying Kevin’s marriage and he was ordered to pay Kevin $750,000.
“I believe in the sanctity of marriage,” Kevin told CNN. “Other families should see what the consequences are not only of breaking the vow of any religion you believe in, but also of your legal responsibilities.”
Surprisingly, in a few states, including North Carolina, there is a “housekeeper” law, the one Kevin’s wife’s lover was found guilty on the grounds of.
