Brian Laundrie remains the sole person of interest in the murder of Gabby Petito who was reported missing by her parents after she failed to return home following her trip around the country with her boyfriend, Laundrie. When he returned home alone, Laundrie refused to tell where Gabby was.

After they hadn’t heard from her in the days that followed, the parents filed a missing person report.

Gabby’s remains were found in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming on September 19 and a preliminary autopsy ruled the manner of her death as a homicide. However, the family will have to wait longer to know the exact manner in which she was murdered.

Laundrie refused to cooperate with the police and hired a lawyer. As the investigation proceeded, he disappeared and the FBI is searching for him ever since. The case of Gabby Petito attracted the attention of the entire country and authorities are urging anyone who has any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to come forward.

Besides the FBI, others offered their services too. Among them are John Walsh, of America’s Most Wanted, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, celebrity bounty hunter and former bail bondsman.

Dog the Bounty Hunter said that ever since Laundrie disappeared, he has been receiving information from the public but is not sharing it with the authorities as he’s carrying out an investigation on his own.

“We’re here at the island. This would be and could be the perfect spot for him to hide. Not too many people out here but there’s a lot of environmental things that we’re going to fight,” he shared on Twitter. “So here we go. The search now is really on. The search has just begun.”

In the meantime, an engineer named Dennis Davis who was hiking on a deserted road close to the Appalachian Trail in North Carolina said he crossed paths with Laundrie. At first, he wasn’t aware it was the man the entire country is trying to track down, but he later saw photos and realized it was indeed Laundrie.

“There is no doubt in my mind I spoke to Brian Laundrie — none whatsoever,” Davis was reported to have said, according to The New York Post. “Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter sent me an audio file of Brian’s voice and the voice was the same I heard.”

Davis said the man was acting skittish and was asking for directions to California via backroads only.

“He said ‘man, I’m lost.’ I said ‘what are you trying to find?’ and he said ‘me and my girlfriend got in a fight but she called me, told me she loves me, and I have to get to California to see her.’

“I said ‘well, I-40 is right there and you could take it west to California’ and he said, ‘I’m just going to take this road into California’,” Davis explained. “He was worried and not making sense.”

He said that the man he suspected to be Laundrie was driving a white or light-colored pick up truck and was wearing a dark bandana on his head.

“Obviously, as a father with a daughter, I want to do whatever I can to help the family find closure and get this guy off the streets,” Davis said.

However, although he made several attempts at reaching the FBI, none of his calls hasbeen returned so far.

“Law enforcement is probably getting millions of leads on this guy, but I am not some goofball out there doing drugs in the middle of the night, I am a highly educated professional,” Davis said. “And I know that was the guy. There is no doubt about it.

“We have this lead but no one’s doing anything, not even a phone call.”

We hope authorities will reach Davis and will investigate his claims. Hopefully, Laundrie will be brought to justice as soon as possible and Gabby’s family will get the closure they need.
