Five words written on my car nearly ended my marriage

When my wife Emily and I left the doctor’s office, I knew our world would change for the best. We were going to become parents. It was the news that we’ve both waited for so long, and now, our wish was finally turning into a reality.

“Honey, this is the best day ever,” I screamed with joy.

I knew nothing could ruin my happiness, but I was so wrong.

The moment we stepped foot out of the doctor’s office, I noticed a strange writing on my car. The words “Hope She Was Worth It” were written all over the left side of it.

“What the hell?” I muttered, heart pounding.

I turned to Emily, she was as confused as I was. “What could this be? Did someone mess up with the wrong car?” I thought to myself.

Emily then tied to defend herself, assuring me that she had nothing to do with that message, and that she wasn’t the one who wrote it.

We got inside the car and headed home, but the thought of that message hunted me.

That evening, Emily spent the night at her parents. I tried to rest and sleep for a while, but I couldn’t. Instead, I got outside and started rubbing the paint the message was written with off the car.

Then, I heard footsteps approaching, and a familiar voice said, “Don’t bother thanking me, you’re welcome.”

I froze.

When I lifted my head I noticed my best friend, Adrian.

“Adrian, what is going on?” I asked, confused.

It was then that Adrian decided to share something with me. Something about Emily.

It turned out that on the day of our engagement party, she disappeared for quite some time. I was busy with the guests and had a few drinks, so I didn’t notice she was absent. While I was unaware of what was happening, all of my friends did notice Emily sneaking from the party. Glances were exchanged, but no one dared to say anything to me.

“I did this because I thought Emily would tell you about that night once she read the message on the car,” Adrian said.

I didn’t want to believe what he was saying, but I was determined to get to the bottom of the story, so I confronted Emily the following day.

As of Adrian, he said he didn’t believe my marriage would last, but now that we were trying for a baby, he knew I was there to stay, so he wanted me to know the truth about my wife.

Whenever I mentioned the message in front of Emily, she tried to assure me that it was just a random act of vandalism, but I knew it wasn’t.

Eventually, when I asked her about the night of our engagement, she burst into tears and confessed she was scared and wanted to leave for good. The thought of getting engaged and getting married was overwhelming. At the time, she wasn’t even sure if I was the one for her.

But, she didn’t cheat on me, and I decided to trust her.

I wouldn’t let that night define the rest of our lives.
