Donny Osmond says ‘final’ goodbyes to family, shares sweet photo on Instagram with grandkids

Their rapid rise to stardom saw the Osmond brothers topping the charts and becoming beloved by fans. Enthusiastic crowds eagerly awaited each new single, album, and performance, creating a phenomenon known as Osmondmania.

When the youngest brother, Donny Osmond, pursued a solo career, people were charmed by his sweet personality, and his popularity only continued to soar over the years.

Remarkably, Donny started performing at just five years old, and the enduring beauty of his career is that it continues to thrive.

2019 marked the end of his 11-year-long Las Vegas residency with his sister Marie, and Osmond returned to Harrah’s Hotel and Casino, headlining his first solo residency, which he resumes in the fall of 2024.

Being a busy performer as he is, after taking the stage and leading the crowds a “dynamic, energy-filled musical journey of his unparalleled life,” Osmond flies to the UK for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat show.

The musician attracted the attention of many with his role of Joseph from 1992 to 1998 and he’s now landing the role of the Pharaoh.

“I always knew I would return to ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,’” Osmond shared on X (formerly Twitter). “Having starred as Joseph in over 2,000 performances in this magical musical, I am now ready to channel my inner Elvis and assume the role of Pharaoh in Edinburgh starting this December [2024].”

However, before any of this takes place, Osmond, whose career spans six decades, is taking a tour across North America.

His schedule is as busy as ever, and since he would be spending some time away, he does his best to share some quality time with his beloved family that he always puts on top of the list of his priorities, his wife of 45 years, Debra, their five sons, and their 14 grandchildren.

“That’s what balances my life out. Family is the most important thing, because the curtain will come down eventually, and then what do you have?” he told People of his family.

So how does he prepare for his tour? Well, Osmond was kind enough to let his fans take a peek at how he spends his time before being away the entire summer. He posted a photo of himself and his grandkids at the swimming pool, with a giant inflatable peacock. In fact, Osmond was disguised as a peacock in the first season of Masked Singer.

“Enjoying a final swim at home with my grandkids before the long US summer tour begins this Friday in Milwaukee. By the way, thanks to Sue Pearson from Leeds in the UK who gave me that inflatable peacock during my tour over there. We’ve had so much fun with it. Speaking of fun, I’ll see you all real soon on my US summer tour,” he captioned the post.

As expected, the comment section filled with comments from fans who have praised his love for his family and shared their excitement over the upcoming tour.

One person wrote, “So this is how you stay looking young Donny, your happiness and precious family makes you smile, and that is why you’re always happy on stage.” A second, gushing over the kids, added, “What a beautiful pictures of you and your grandbabies. Can’t wait to see you [in] Louisville.”

“Can’t wait for this summer tour. Rest up…what is it 41 venues? Wow! Donny What a historic US Tour. So exciting! See you in Connecticut,” a third wrote.

In the meantime, some fans focused on the peacock, linking it to his appearance on Masked Singer. “Love the peacock… you should have won!!!!” one fan commented.

We are so glad Donny Osmond is having the time of his life with his loved ones.
