Donald Trump shares surprising health update on Melania after escalator mishap

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump are attending the 80th session of the UN’s General Assembly (UNGA). This year’s theme of the event attended by world leaders is “Better together: 80 years and more for peace, development and human rights.”

However, for the Trumps, the event came with a couple of mishaps.

After seeming to sidestep questions on Palestine and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, Trump headed toward the escalator, only for it to abruptly stop as soon as he stepped on. He and Melania Trump were then forced to walk up the halted escalator Tuesday as they entered UN headquarters in Manhattan.

And while Melania was praised for her bold choice to take charge and start climbing, prompting her husband to follow after her, the White House wasn’t happy because of the “incident.”

Press Secretary Karoline Levitt has condemned UN security and accused their staff of deliberately turning off escalators in an attempt to humiliate the president.

According to The Times, Levitt noted UN staff had “joked” that they could turn off the escalators and elevators in the building. Allegedly, the pranksters’ plan was to have Trump use the stairs and then quip that they’d simply run out of money.

“If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the president and first lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately,” Levitt wrote on X, the Daily Mail reported.

After the escalator incident, Trump lashed out at the UN, sneering: “All I got … was an escalator … If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would’ve fallen.” He then accused the body of “funding an assault” on the West and claimed Europe is “going to hell.”

Throughout his speech of two hours, the longest made by a president so far, Trump paused when the teleprompter stopped working.

“I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working,” Donald Trump said, adding that he was still happy to be in the General Assembly hall, per Al Jazeera.

He then jokingly made a 2-word threat, saying, “I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble.”

As of Melania and the escalator incident, people called her the “boss,” with one person writing, “Melania doesn’t miss a beat and starts climbing the stairs. She’s wonderful! No one screws with her because she’s a powerhouse.”

Indeed, as her husband states, the first lady is in great shape.

She’s allegedly following a strict diet and workout regimen, with Melania herself admitting in the past that she enjoys Pilates and tennis.

Also, reports suggest that she wears ankle weights most days.
