Donald Trump claims there’s a ‘loophole’ which could allow him to serve third term as president

Donald Trump hasn’t ruled out the prospect of seeking a third term in the White House.

On March 30, the POTUS told NBC’s Kristen Welker he’s “not joking” about a potential third stint in office.

Currently, the Constitution doesn’t allow a single person to serve as the president of the country for three times, but allegedly there is a “loophole” Trump intends to “use” in order to change this.

“No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once,” the Constitution states.

“But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.”

So far, Donald Trump has opened up about the idea of a third term a number of times, but not many believed he was serious – unless not until recently, when he clearly hinted there are ways for him to continue his presidency beyond 2028.

“A lot of people want me to do it. But, I mean, I basically tell them we have a long way to go, you know, it’s very early in the administration,” he explained. “I’m focused on the current.

“I like working. I’m not joking. But I’m not – it is far too early to think about it,” he said, adding “there are methods which you could do it.”

Asked of the possibility JD Vance to run for a president and then pass the role to Trump, he answered, “That’s one,” adding there are other ways too but refused to provide other examples.

Congressman Andy Ogles has already introduced a House Joint Resolution that would amend the U.S. Constitution to allow a president to serve up to three terms, but no more.
