Dad waits his son’s flight – realizes he’s not among the passengers

Arlene was separated from her husband, and she and her son lived in a different state. The boy, Justin, hadn’t seen his father in years, and he was about to take a flight to Orlando, Florida to meet him.

It was Justin’s first flight as an unaccompanied minor and his mother was a bit worried despite the reassurance by the travel company that there would be no problems and that Justin would have an escort.

Since the flight had no connections, everything was expected to go as smoothly as planned.

In Orlando, Pierce was patiently waiting for his son’s plane to land. When he and Arlene separated, Justin was a two-year-old boy and now he was seven. This dad was over the moon by the thought of seeing his son after that many years.

He had planned an unforgettable trip for Justin, and that included going to Disneyland, visiting theme-parks with Justin’s favorite superheroes and dinosaurs, and spending quality time catching up.

When the flight finally ended, something didn’t seem right. The passengers got out of the plane, but there was no sign of Justine.

Pierce got worried, but tried to stay calm and continued waiting until all of the passengers got out of the plane. It was then that he started panicking and approached an airline staff member and asked about Justin.

After checking the records, Pierce was told there wasn’t an unaccompanied minor named Justin on the flight.

Pierce was quick to call Arlene, who was waiting at the departure airport for an update.

“Arlene, what is going on, Justin wasn’t on the flight,” he said with panic in his voice.

“What!? That can’t be, I saw him board the flight, he was in,” Arlene said, unable to contain her tears from rolling down her face. “Where’s our son, Pierce?” she kept asking.

Amid the chaos, Arlene decided to check the flight information again and that’s when she realized she made a mistake. “Pierce, Justin’s at Orlando Sanford International Airport, not Orlando International Airport. I got the airport’s name wrong.”

Before saying anything, Pierce got into his car and started driving as fast as he could. The other airport was at least 30 minutes away, and with the heavy traffic, it would took him even longer than that.

Finally, less than an hour later, Pierce arrived at the right place. His son was patiently waiting for him there with his escort.

The reunion was an emotional one. The father and son looked forward to the days that followed. But before anything, they called Arlene, who was worried sick for her child.

“Mom,” Justin said when he called her on the phone. “I’m with dad now. I’ll send you photos from Disney.”

Arlene was relieved her son was safe and ready to enjoy a trip of a lifetime with his dad.
