Covered by the tangles of fur

A poor little dog had been spending her days on the roadside of a Missouri neighborhood, and no one seemed to notice how bad her condition turned out to be because of her tangled fur.

Every day, people passed right beside her, but no one cared enough to check on her or provide any sort of help.

However, that changed one day when a driver decided to make a stop and check on the poor animal that didn’t even resemble a dog any longer. He was curious to learn what was wrong, and that decision helped save a life.

When the rescuer approached, the sweet dog, later named Pear, didn’t lift her head or try to run simply because she didn’t have the strength. But she didn’t flinch from the touch, either. When the person lifted her, it felt like she knew she was finally in safe hands, and she was right.

Soon after, Pear was brought at Mac’s Mission. The staff didn’t panic because they had seen different cases of animal neglect throughout the years. They began freeing the dog hidden beneath the matted fur. Hours of careful clipping revealed a body painfully thin, covered in sores where the fur had pulled too tightly. Her legs were shaking and her breathing was shallow. However, beneath all that, Pear’s heart wanted to continue beating and fight for her life.

The moment the staff at the shelter helped get rid of the tangled fur, the sweet dog felt relieved and started staring at her rescuers.

It took some time before Pear was able to recover completely. She could barely stand at first, and her meals had to be very small and frequent. But she slept covered in warm and clean blankets and learned what care and love is. It looked like that for the first time ever, she felt safe.

It took months before her coat grew soft again, and she didn’t resemble that poor dog saved from the streets of Missouri.

Pear was given a second chance in life only because one kind-hearted person decided she was worth saving her.
