Joe Biden’s cancer diagnosis caused a stir among the public. While many shared their support, others — mainly MAGA supporters — accused him of keeping his diagnosis a secret due to the fact that prostate cancer usually takes time to spread and Biden’s has been aggressive and already spreading to his bones.
President Donald Trump and Vice-President JD Vance were among those who questioned Biden’s transparency regarding his health while serving as the head of the country.
Now, a top oncologist who used to work with Joe Biden says he has probably had the cancer for “a decade.”
Dr Ezekiel Emanuel, who took part in crafting the the Obama-era Affordable Care Act, shared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that Biden likely had cancer while serving as a president.
Host Joe Scarborough asked the doctor, “I just want to stop you here. So, this is not speculation. If you have prostate cancer that has spread to the bone, then he most certainly–you are saying had it when he was president of the United States.”
Dr Emanuel replied, “Oh, yeah. He did not develop it in the last 100 to 200 days.
“He had it while he was president. [Biden] probably had it at the start of his presidency in 2021. Yes, I don’t think there’s any disagreement about that.”
Although guidelines recommend against prostate cancer screening for men 70 and older, Dr Emanuel stated that both Presidents Obama and George W. Bush underwent prostate cancer tests, and that “it is a little surprising that the doctor didn’t take it” when Biden was at the White House.
He also added that it is very surprising doctors didn’t diagnose Biden earlier.
In light of the former president’s diagnosis, a 2022 video of Biden in Massachusetts resurfaced on social media, showing him speaking about the effects of pollution on health.
At one moment, he could be heard saying, “That’s why I—and so damn many other people I grew up with—have cancer.”
According to the White House, Biden’s off-script comment was about his past non-melanoma skin cancer that had been removed at the time of his speech.
Trump and many of his supporters accused Biden’s wife, Jill Biden, of being aware of her husband’s health condition and still encouraging him to run for a second term.
