2 young brothers killed in crash while out together, leaving mom devastated – ‘a part of me died that night’

Ashley Kauffman suffered an unimaginable loss when both her sons, 13-year-old Kayden Compton and 10-year-old Braydon Kauffman, died in a car crash when the Ford F-550 their father was driving rolled over and crashed into a tree.

Braydon was a fifth-grader at McGregor Elementary School, and his big brother Kayden, was an eighth-grader at STEAMM Academy in Canton, Ohio.

The boys’ mother has always been overly protective of her sons and didn’t even allow them to ride bikes on the street like the rest of the children. They were her entire world and with their passing, a piece of her died.

Kayden and Braydon were loving and caring. When their mom was diagnosed with cancer and needed to undergo chemo treatments, they were always there for her, supporting her and helping around the house. They also took care of their younger siblings and were the best big brothers anyone could ever wish for.

On October 1, 2022, the brothers left the house together, not knowing they were going to their death. At around 9:22 p.m., authorities were informed of a car crash. They rushed to the scene and came across a horrific sight. The two boys were already dead. It was reported they both died at the scene. The driver suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital but is expected to survive.

In a Facebook post in which she spoke of the moment she was told her boys died, devastated Ashley wrote, “a part of me died that night.”

People living near the place where the crash took place rushed to offer help, but as there was nothing they could do, they simply waited for the first responders, who came with the jaws of life, to arrive.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help Ashley with the funeral costs. The amount of money raised exceeded the $17,000 expected to be raised.

Heartbroken Ashley, who is hoping the justice would be served, wrote on Facebook that a witness stepped forward and revealed that the driver of the vehicle was under influence while driving. “Thank you to the witness who felt enough pain & sorrow for my innocent babies, to tell the truth,” she wrote.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of Kayden and Braydon. May they rest in peace.
